OBD-II Books, PDF's, Resources
I’ve ordered a 2008 Ford King Ranch and am planning on installing a CarPC in it. I’m now in the research mode and was wondering if anyone out there had recommendations on books that explain OBD-II and what information is available from the vehicle via the OBD-II connector.
I’m also interested in resources for what ever proprietary information Ford may have in their system.
Any recommendations?

Look at AutoEnginuity. I have their connector and OEM specific PIDs. I forget what the cost is but it seems like it maybe around $400, but they have good support for newer Fords. Ask them what they support before you buy, I got a little screwed on one of my cars because I assumed that OEM Specific PIDs were supported (2007 Cadillac CTS) but they were not.

Have you used this software with anyother other applications (i.e. RR)?
I'm hoping to be able to get the extended PID's into an application that is skinable. Have you tried anything like this?

I would also be interested in what you are doing and what you find. I have a 07 Navigator I'm putting on and want to control it via the CAN bus as well as interface other devices. Also I want to program functions using the Nav Touch Screen and or other buttons to make the lights come on/off etc. and program the OEM lights to come on with different inputs. I will gladly share any info. I find.

You can "embed" Autoenginuity in Centrafuse - I am doing that....but it is still better to run it as an external application, as you loose to much screen real estate when running a FE...
That's my feeling - but I have resolved that issue by using a 10.4" LCD - smaller than that, and you have a problem.
