GM ALDL protocols (description) - from GM guy
Hi there!
I am new here.
Few days ago my car was stolen from building enterence (Chrysler 300M) (I live in appartments). And i decide to reanimate my old car (Chevrolet S10 Blazer) and put there a CarPuter with support ECM diagnostic and OnScreen gauges.
I was try to find out here how to connect my car to computer.... But unfortunatly did not find any helpfull information about communication protocol ALDL (OBD I) to write the software by myself. And many other people ask here about this stuff...
Here it is.... I found it....
In archive different protocols with GM ECU depending the car body, year, engine, ignition system...
ATTENTION, THIS IS NOT A PDF FILE !!!
THIS IS RAR ARCHIVE, YOU MUST CHANGE FILE EXTENSION
FROM .PDF to .RAR
P.s.
To admin: sorry for this, but you have limit 200k for upload RAR
To other: sorry for bad english (the english language is foreign language for me)

Don't know if you'd be interested in this, but I have designed and built an ALDL interface adapter that works with a PC (standard serial interface). I have tested it with WinALDL, PCMCOMM, TurboLink, etc. and it works great. This unit was originally built for the 85-88 V6 Pontiac Fiero. I have also got it to work with the 3800SC engine that is a popular swap with the Fiero community.

Yaeh, it is very interesting, but far away from me and to expensive (sending to my place is not secure).
I found a couple of cable schemes and can't decide which i need to use:
1) scheme on 2 transistors
2) scheme with max 232, transistors (or ather variant without transistors)
3) or scheme from http://www.techedge.com.au/vehicle/aldl8192/8192hw.htm
Can you tell me which i need to use? (S10 Blazer, 94, V6, TBI, i think ALDL 8192)

Which scheme you use?
Are you try your software on both ALDL 160 and ALDL 8192?
Max.

ALDL is GM data transfer protocol (and use with OBD1)
From 1996 all car equip OBD2.
So you neen OBD2 cable and you should find out which protocol use your car ( ISO9141-2, ISO14230-2 (KWP2000), SAE J1850 VPW, SAE J1850 PWM, ISO 15765-4 CAN)
I think you need K-Line adapter for connect you car to PC (or adapter on ELM chip)
