BMW non OBD2 20 pin socket

Hi guys.

I recently bought a 1993 BMW M3 (euro), which I'm pretty sure is non OBD2. I need to do a bit of tinkering so I've been looking into carsoft and I was wondering what interface they use? I've already got an elm interface, GALLETTO-1250 and USB K-Line interface, so I was hoping I could just use one of them and buy the carsoft software on its own to save some money?

Just wondering if anyone here knows, my uneducated guess is that the people selling clones on eBay etc are just selling elm/similar that will only work with carsoft on OBDC2 BMW's, but if you want complete functionality you need their own interface? can anyone shed some light on this? I e-mailed carsoft but not had any reply yet, also can anyone tell me the best place to buy carsoft (genuinely).

Hi Jock,

Your car is significantly pre-OBD2 compliance, this was from 1996 in the US and 2001 in the EU.

Best bet is to take a look at our Peake Research tool (http://www.ukobd.co.uk/gstore/store/...p?IDproduct=44) - this will plug into the 20-pin socket on your car and do the trick.

Thanks for the reply, so this Peake FCX II thing just connects to the diagnostic output and gives you various codes which you cross reference on some kind of datasheet? How does the service reset thing work just press some sequence of buttons?
