Question someone please help me with diagnostics problem

all i wanted a carpc for is to get some diagnostics.

so i went and bought an interface ( http://www.obdpros.com/ )
and bought pcmscan.

so i went and ran everything and it says it is connected but won't pull any diagnostics! i spent a lot of money on it i would really appreciate it if someone could help me out. the car is a 1998 ford mustang.

also, the problem isn't pcmscan. i also tried one of the free programs that came with my interface and i had the same issue. it says it connects, but doesn't actually read any information!

I am no expert yet, but it will be helpful to know what make/model/year car we are talking about.

I doubt you'll find technical help for that product here. Have you tried their forums or calling them?

Have you tried it on a different car?

The OBDPro interface is a solid unit and should be working fine. It is possible that you may have received a defective hardware interface.

If you can send me a techlog from PCMSCAN, I'll take a look and see if I can figure out what is going wrong. Email support@palmerperformance.com with the techlog, or let us know and we'll tell you the steps to generate the techlog.

jash7,

I missed your post initially but can you PM me your addr? Not sure why you are having this problem but I will mail you an interface tested to ensure it works with PCMScan and then you can just mail me your current one so I can identify the issue - I will include a postage paid coupon in the shipment....

BTW: When you say PCMScan connects successfully what info is listed on the OBDII settings screen?

Thanks
Paul
