vw gti obd1

for vws the only one i know of is VAG-Com it is available at http://www.ross-tech.com/ software is free. connection cable that makes it work is spendy. never used it on obd1 cars but it has a crazy amount of power with obd2 cars, change shift points, control factory air suspenion, datalog 4 channels.

Only way would be a manufacturer specific diagnostic system, which means either the dealers tools or similar (i.e. VAG-COM/VCDS).
