2001 Olds Alero factory radio VIN change?
My factory CD player quit working so I bought another one on ebay. The problem is GM incoded the VIN number into the radio so it can only be used in the car it came in. I know they use the Tech 2 to change the VIN somehow. Well the stealership wanted $115 to do this. Not a chance I'm spending that much on that, I bought the radio for $17.
Well we have a OTC Genisys 3.0 at work so I'm wondering if it can do the samething as the Tech 2. I have had it hooked up to the car but couldn't find anything about the radio. Would I need the GM SPS Reprogramming card to do this?
