microOBD (OBD to UART module)

This will be interesting to those folks who do embedded development.

ScanTool.net developed a module (microOBD) that combines an ELM327-compatible OBD interpreter chip with all the necessary OBD drivers, in a single 1x2 in. package.

It is not available for purchase yet, I'm posting here to see if there is any interest, and to get feedback from potential users.

Best regards,

Vitaliy

OK, I'm still interested.
How long before they are available?

Have you parted ways with the actual ELM chips?
It looks like you are making your own now.

About eight weeks. And yeah, considering that an ELM327 is $30+, I too think that $45 is a pretty good deal.

That's right, both OBDLink and microOBD are running firmware that we developed in-house.

It works with any OBDII compliant vehicle.

Wow!
What about the EOBD and Alfa Romeos/Fiat?
Reading memory blocks will be possible?
What extra features it will have compared to ELM327?
This is a great project Vitaliy!

Maybe Vitaliy can elaborate but his message says it is an ELM compatible interpreter. That sounds to me like it can interpret an ELM 327 command and act on it. That would differ from a n ELM clone chip that tries to duplicate how the ELM works.

I would like to suggest that the header pins be left off of the board.
They could be included, but not soldered into the board.
This would give the user (me ) more options for incorporating the board into their package.

Is the 5 pin header for ICSP?
