Not so fast ...
Different cars have different formats for OBD-II
This is not an issue with OBDDiagnostics, thier single interface supports VPW(GM), PWM(Ford), ISO9141(Chrysler, Asian, European) & ISO 14230. And the software is FREE. Although it may not be as full-featured as OBD-2, the gauges look better . Without a group buy it is just less $$$. That group buy for OBD-2 is pretty sweeet for people that want a more serious dedicated OBD-II reader for about the same money!

well i did about 120-140 dollars of diagnostic work today in like 10 min
( the dealer charges 70 bucks to read a code and the indy shop 60 )
i bought the BR-3 for 88 bucks
i did my passat got some error codes of it and i did my jetta got 2 codes off that one( having engine problems)
there were some intresting options for the carputer but nothing really other than monitoring and possibly trouble shooting
but all in all im very happy with the product
i wish the software had some sort of direct port into Excel or something liek that but im sure i can figure something out.

I was wondering if there is any scripts/programs/etc to use the OBD controllers to record 0-60 times.
Could someone please point me in the right direction. I am considering buying one if I could use it to record such info.

Autotap have just reworked their reader so it now works for all OBD-II enabled cars. It now connects to the USB port and costs $199 for the generic data.

with the BR-3
i gues you could set it up data logging with time stamps
then monitor the mph only
then put the refresh on turbo
then pull up to the line and gun it
and go threw the graph when your done and subtract the mph 0 time stamp from the 60time stamp and vola

no idea
its about 4 feet of cable from the box to the obd connector
and about 5 feet from the box to the serial so youve go some lee way
as far as acutally connecting to the computer
the software is mildly ghetto ( looks like it was writen back in 1998)
but its got some use full features like teh digital guages
connecting it to computer should only be a matter of connecting the serial cable up loading the software and hitting start
btw the diffrence between the 200 buck tests and the 88 br-3 is that the br-3 is pretty much read only ( it can clear engine codes but thats it)
with the vag-com systems you can change some memory values to make diffrent things happen ( an example is in the vw jetta you can change the auto transmission to sport or ecomny something a dealer would have to do normaly)
also vag-com's can clear air bag lights and other more car spesific things

I have the BR-3, btw, and it works excellently. I've used it on a Hybrid Civic, Buick Regal, Ford Mustang, and GMC Yukon. I car just failed smog because the check engine light came on for a second at the end of the test, and the shop 'helpfully' offered to read the error code from the computer for $150. Ha! No thanks, I'll read my own, I told them. They started to hem and haw, 'It's not as easy as it looks, we paid $15,000 for our reader!'
"I'm afraid you paid too much", I said, as I walked out.

Haha, thats awsome chairboy. I love it when that kind of stuff happens. Did you go back the next day and tell them what it said?
On another note, which of these ODB-II units have an SDK or somthing similar so that perhaps at some stage it can be incorporated into one MediaCar/Engine or Frodoplayer?
