what all do it need with this OBD-II scanner

im building a car pc and am looking for a OBD-II scanning tool and think i have found a good one at http://www.obddiagnostics.com/order.html

its the first one on that page. what else do i need to have to make that work? it says everything included but im wondering if you have to have that chip or the other things they sell. I dont think i do but im making sure, Thanks

I have this kit, and that first item has everything you need. It's a single unit, connects to the OBD-II connector in your car, and can interface with the three main protocols. I've used mine in a Ford Mustang, GMC Yukon, Buick Regal, even a Honda Civic Hybrid.

i have that same one

very nice but i would like some imporvemnts in the software

( like export to .xls ) but it does what it says

the box it comes iwth could be dramaticly reduced if you have some sodering skill ( putting a few components on there side and you can easly fit it behind the dash

the connectors are kinda of cheap but for 88 bucks i wasnt expecting gold plated or anything and that could be solved with some large heat shrink wrap

all in all i would say 8.5 out of 10
