All '96 & up U.S. passenger vehicles have this OBDII, it is a fed.gov. standard.
I use my Palm to get vehicle info from this connector.
when using generic software (like I do) you only get OBDII info. (like readable trouble codes) Some DTC's my say "Manufacturer Specific" which'll only show the DTC #. Others DTC's that are under the Fed. guidelines will state what the Trouble code means, like "O2 Sensor out of range".
You also get basic info. like RPM, Coolant Temp, MAF Meter, Throttle Position, etc.
You would have to buy a cable and some kind of translator box.The software I use (for my Palm) also has a desktop version but I haven't tried it.
