Is this an OBD port or not??

This port is in the australian 2002 Turbo Ford Falcon. (XR6T) Someone else here has plugged in a OBD 2 compliant interface and it has'nt worked. I have biult a ELM320 based interface and .....it dont work

what is it?
I know that the furtherest pin top right (with metal in it of course) is GND
and the one furtherest pin bottom left is +12. But no idea what the others is.
anyone got any clues?

Like most things ... first, you have to realise that this forum is on the majority american based, and like most other things, something that works for their car systems may (but may not) for australian cars.

OBDII is only available in models built after 1996 and then number is very small. There is a better chance of being OBDII compatible in models built after 2000.

Ok, Ok, Ok... Maybe its just upside down because its an Australian car! Get it? Because of the whole hemisphere thing? Get it? Alright, I know it wasn't that funny. And to Australia, us dumb Americans are upside down... Get it?

Its OBDII, but you're going to have to see what format. And of course, they may have swapped the connectors in your model.

My guess at some pins... 13 == Flash Voltage, 2&10 == classic USA Ford PWM, 7 == FISO (Ford ISO)

yeah high speed CAN....is what im fearing....
This is on a 2002 model XR6Turbo (still brand new model actually)
I have tried and tried to source information from techs at ford via email, but of course, they keep their cards held close to their chest......BASTARDS. :P
Ive just biult and got up and running a ELM320 based interface, as someone else,
http://www.emergent.com.au/~cmoran/my_xr6.html
thinks it works, but I have emailed him and like so many people using email these days, no reply

This stinks....Ive spent so much time on this and still no results.
oh and Odessy, i HAVE googled, what on EARTH makes you think i didnt?
I have googled and googled this subject so damn much its getting obsessive!
Jyaron... thank you SO much for your input......much more appreciated than Mr "Oddessy" here, ...ill try that connection tonite

Ive noticed that from this info
http://www.scantool.net/products/obdii_cable_type_b.htm
That the GND pin lines up correct, and the J1850 Bus + pin agrees with the standard, but not the Bus -.
Also, the Standard says Pin 16 is the power. On my car its Pin 9.

Hrmm.......

cheers

Can!?

Ok, this thing is looking more and more like its CAN all the time. I have probed the pins and the voltages seem to agree to the idea that its CAN.
Now, does anyone know of a home biuldable interface that will work with CAN?
with digimoto? or anything else?

cheers. You guys have been the best help

well, good news, for any xr6t owners on mp3car, there is a distributor in OZ about to release a unit, CANscan, which can talk to the CAN in the OBDII in BA falcons,
Im told it is also ISO, so im biuling a scanner for this too.
http://www.norcom.net.au/~bpt/can_scan_tool.htm
Just thought I should mention what Ive found here.
