Convert factory digital gauge cluster?

After thinking long and hard about using the carputer to control my custom gauges in the MP3 VAN, I have decided to forego that idea for something more practical (hopefully).

Does anyone know how feasible it would be to take an existing digital dash from a GM car of the same era as mine but different make (like the Caprice, S-series Jimmy, or Olds Cutlass to name a few - I have a 93 Chevy G-Van, analogue gauges)

I'm sure I would have to chase the wiring diagrams down for both applications.. any ideas where I could start or if this is even a do-able thing?

May needs some DSPs as well..

Seems like I could get a dash with awesome VFDs in it cheap from a junk yard and create some kind of wiring harness to connect the two.

Thanks in advance...
