MPG for an Impala LS

Hi, I have a 2004 Impala LS and it doesn't have the center console in it to display the fuel MPG. Is there anyway to add this into my car? I'm not nearly as advanced as 99% of you in this forum. I'm having a Pioneer AVIC-N1 stereo installed in my car and it has a fold out touch screen LCD on it. I'm pretty sure I can feed video out to it through a video in source on the AVIC-N1. But I need to find a device that will calculate the miles per gallon to display it on the screen. Any ideas?

(I'm not much of a programmer so I'm no where good enough to write code to make this happen. I took the first class of programming in C++ and that's it. I am not going to school to be a programmer. I pretty much need a solution that is pretty straight forward.)

I don't know if you can add the overhead console, as mine already came with it installed. You might try picking one up at a junkyard. Check out www.newimpala.com or www.naioa.com and you might find some answers there.

Im thinking maybe? but probably not. I was thinking about doing the same thing on two of my cars. Same engine and ecu. I could still try it but overall it would be time comsuming.

Here are some options.

1) http://www.scangauge.com/

2) http://www.jcwhitney.com/autoparts/P...20per%20gallon

3)http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...sPageName=WDVW

1)"ugly but it works!" MPG,Instant and average!
2)If you can find a place to install it works!
3)Auterra's Dyno-Scan for Palm CAN Lots of features! Your going to have to buy the software and a palm.

I have 2 and 3. Depending on how much you want to spend its up to you. Get 2 if you on a tight budget. If money isnt a problem. I would go with 3 thats the best deal. But nothing wrong with #1 that probably your best bet.

I have an 04 Impala LS and I just ordered the overhead console from a Junkyard... It should be here in a week or so and I'll let you know how the install goes...
