Couldn't agree with you more on the price. Even with the conversion rate and postage over here, it's hardly a huge outlay for what I'll be getting.
I was indeed confusing OBDpros for tunertools.
Can't wait for it to arrive

Ummm, Paul's site has a shipping calculator on it. Drop a piece into your shopping cart, then use "Calculate Shipping Cost" on the "What's In My Cart?" page. For your case, you'll end up with options like this: Zipcode 34105
Shipping method(s) for United States
United Parcel Service (1 x 1.65lbs)
Next Day Air Early AM $75.52
Next Day Air $43.46
Next Day Air Saver $40.93
2nd Day Air $22.03
3 Day Select $17.41
Ground $11.25
United States Postal Service (1 x 1.65lbs)
EXPRESS (1 - 2 Days) $22.80
Priority (2 - 3 Days) $9.30 Those are JUST the shipping costs, so add the price of the dongle to that. US $84.99 for serial, $99.99 for USB.

Just a quick note to anyone regarding my experience with OBDpros.
I ordered and paid for my unit on 20th November by credit card.
It arrived to my door by courier on 27th November. Keeping in mind that I live on the Gold Coast inAustralia, this is an absolutley fantastic turn around. I had a couple of questions reagarding the unit, to which I had a reply within an hour.
Can't recommend these guys enough!

Hi NiSlo,
Thanks for the vote of confidence, the united states postal service has definitely improved greatly since facing competition from FedEx and UPS and now it seems it has become pretty reliable at extremely competitive rates.

So tempted to purchase one.... Product looks good. I have not seen a single negative remark so far. ^_^
im interested in purchasing a unit. Im still deciding if to go serial or usb. Mostlikely will go serial.
* What is the current hardware version?
* Any known issues so far?
* Does the serial version still have a slotted user replaceable chip for the event of updating?
* Do you have any information on hooking this up with a PPC? Im assuming one can use a serial hot-sync or usb hot-sync cable from the pda to the unit and it would work? (i could be terribly wrong)
I might have more questions later.
* (i wonder if this will work without issues in my car...)

Getting the data from the device to the PDA is "easy", but you'll need software in the PDA to make use of it. fwiw, one of my OBDII boxes is an Auterra so the concept is certainly plausible. And yeah, in that case the box is serial and I used a serial hotsync cable.
btw... when do we all get an invite to the next Athen's Halloween party?

Hardware is at version 1.0
No issues at this point some of the initial versions would go into a infinite detect mode if not hooked up to an OBD II vehicle (eg on a test bench), but this did not hamper functionality in anyway, this has been corrected now.
Serial version uses a socketed chip so when there are updates you will still be able to just replace the micro.
Serial Hot-synch cable works but you cannot use a USB hot-synch cable since most PPC's act as a USB device and not as a USB host.
2001 spyder will work fine with this interface, but in case you run into problems you can always return it no questions asked.
Thanks
Paul

No problems.
I am not sure how to handle the upgrades yet, but currently I am thinking that if users ship the old micro back to me I will send out the upgraded one for a programming fee probably something like $ 15 (not finalized yet so don't hold me to it ) or so to cover shipping and handling.
Of course if there are any issues with the interface I will ship the users a new one at no charge.
Beats having to buy a new interface I think.

since the usb version does not have a socketed chip, does that mean it can not be updated easly -or- at all?
Eitherway, i have all the information I need at the moment. ^_^
*Purchased* OBDPro Serial Scantool ^_^ can't wait to play with it.

Won't be a problem upgrading it but folks will need to mail me the interface so I can reflash, I do not have a clean way of reflashing it via a host at the moment, am working on it though so someday there will be no need to mail back the micro or the interface, just download a file and reflash, but right now that capability is vaporware.

I tried to purchase the serial adapter, but I live in Canada. There is no option to select the right province. Just state...

Just put the province in the comments field and I will make sure that it is correctly entered on the shipping label.

I figured out what the issue was. You have to select which country you live in. Then it displayed the province.
My order is in.
