Yeh stupid 160 baud rate! ive heard that i can replace my 1227808 with the 1227165 and get the 8192 baud rate. but i cant seem to find any for a good price. ive also got a kalmaker tune so i'd prob need to check with my tuner that it would be a straight swap (cant see why not..).
160 baud rate just aint enough for any proper digital dash thou.. i mean it can display a fair few things like battery voltage, water temp etc (stuff that doesn't change too often) but for anything that update regularly (like speed, tacho, tps etc) its not too practical.
but hey ill still give a go lol.

There is a website out there that might help you find the other ECM for a more reasonable cost it is CAR-PARTS........ You can search by price or how close they are to you. Thats where I got my ECMs.

Each ECM using a different protocol, ya gotta wonder just what they were thinking. Different teams I suppose...

"160 baud rate just aint enough for any proper digital dash thou"
agreed, even though it was only less then a second lag i got it down too it still kinda sucked, but thats only when i floored it. Under normal driving everything was updated regularly and on time.

Ive just signed up here to post some info for ELcap. Kalmaker runs 8192baud ALDL, not 160. To get this data you'll need to add a max232 serial interface to your ECU. This serial link will differ from the 'real' 8192 baud ALDL in that it wont be on the ALDL pin on the OBD connector, instead after modding your ECU you'll have a full duplex serial port. Assuming you have a street pro 3 tune, not workshop, and if it is the normally aspirated program (N03) you can get a definition for scannerpro or tunerproRT 5 (when its released) here:
http://www.delcohacking.net/forums/v....php?f=10&t=29
Ive also developed some ALDL software that emulates a moates autoprom to talk to tunerproRT and converts the write requests to Kalmaker or OSE ALDL write requests (when running on NVSRAM). This software is called antusprom. Im having some trouble getting it to talk reliably to newer PCMs though, and it has no gui, so I hope to try and improve some of the software in this thread instead.
Does anyone know if the source for the QT toolkit ALDL reader here is available?

update: its been suggested that kalmaker runs 160baud as well as 8192, but naturally 8192 is the way to go.

Antus: I wrote it, and I'll stick it up on sourceforge sometime this weekend.

Ok cool, so i can run 8192baud with my kalmaker tune.

so what ur saying is that instead of getting an ecu that outputs 8192, that i can add a serial interface to the ecu and use that to get my obd data?
Not sure if its a street pro3 tune... any way to check?
Its a supercharged engine so its not an n/a program.
Thanks for the info thou! ill have to do some more searching and reading.
Rob
Edit: fyi, i dont want to tune my car, just show the obd data.

antus: The program is on a computer I don't have access to, so it's gonna have to wait a while.

You'll need to do the comms mod to the ecu hardware, that is add a max232 chip to give you a serial interface. I cant find anywhere that this mod is documented on the net, although its quite common. I'll take some clear shots of mine tonight and document what pin is what. The VR manual code ($12) will also run on the '808 and give high speed comms with this mod, and delcohacking.net has a modified version of this with wideband support and nvram write (realtime editing!)

Heres the delco '808 comms mod. This gives you an 8192 baud serial link, with _no echo_. Most ALDL cables do echo, so depending on the software you use you may need to find the echo setting and turn it off.
OSE (based on $12 code, available free from delcohacking.net) or kalmaker street pro 3 code will log with this mod.
you need the standard caps for a max232 as well

hey antus,
thanks for the pic, however im not sure if i follow correctly.....
so i need to add a max232 chip and then connect +5v,gnd,r1 out, t1 in; from the ecu to the corresponding pin on the chip.
and then from the chip i connect pin 2,3,5 to 14,13,15 respectively on the db9 serial cable?
Thanks
Rob
Edit: i noticed u mentioned adding caps.
i did a bit of a google for max232 and got a few diagrams.
one uses 1uf caps and the other uses 10uf.
do u know the values, or doesnt it matter too much?
