Is the hardware giving you an init failure? Or does the hardware seem to be working correctly, but the software is failing? I would check out the ScanTool.net freeware and see if you can get that to work with your interface. Try to determine the source of the problem first. If it's a hardware problem you might simply not be OBDII compliant. What confuses me is that you say the free version of ScanMaster works but the licensed version does not... that suggests a software problem. You should determine for sure where the problem exists on your end before you sink any more money into other products.

Hi,
Why the demo connected and the full version did not I connect suggest.
You need to be aware that the EU vehicles were not required to be compliant until 2001 (petrol). Your car probably uses either the KWP2000 (supported by your hardware) or KW86 (not supported).
Do you know what your engine code is?
Did we speak on the 'phone about this problem?

Hi,
I don't know anything about the demo software that you used, are you absolutely sure that it was actually connecting, or emulating a connection.
Have you tried other software such as Digimoto Lite for instance?
I would suggest that it is a hardware issue, as I believe the protocol is not supported, and runs at a slightly different speed than the normal.
Do you know the engine code? I should be able to advise what protocol it is using at least.
Best bet is to use one of the "Tech 2" type tools on the market, just be careful - much of the hardware doesn't work, and you have to be patient with the software, it does the job, but isn't very well polished....
Hope this helps,
Gareth

I have posted this response on our forums as well, but in case you look here first ~ As we had discussed in another thread, we believe the ELM hardware product may be the source of your problem in this situation. I strongly suggest you contact the manufacturer or reseller from where you purchased your hardware to first identify your hardare problems. Once these are resolved, I am sure you will find more success with Digimoto. Obviously you have had no success with any software, so to say it is a Digimoto problem is incorrect. The ELM seems to be detecting protocol, but is unable to communicate. There is definitely a problem here, but it is not in the software.
On a side note we support all OBDII compliant vehicles. If your vehicle does not work with this solution either it is not OBDII compliant or there may be some type of internal problem with your vehicle or you may have purchased faulty hardware (see above). There are a few older foreign vehicles (vehicles not sold within the USA) that simply did not comply with OBDII standards and there is nothing we can do about that. If the ELM hardware doesn't communicate with the vehicle, there is nothing the software will be able to do (same goes with the mOByDic). I recommend all customers read our FAQ to determine if their vehicle is OBDII compliant, especially customers who reside in a country outside the USA. In the rare case your solution does not work, we offer a 30 day money back guarantee for your safety.

hello vauxcheck works with the vauxhall vectra 1.6 16v also works on my 1996 and 1999 and will reset engine light can get it for £25.
no hardware fault with elm got new one or car cost £50 to have ecu check.
digimoto is good software just does not work on my car the same thing as scantool it sounds like uk cars and us made cars do not use the same software in the ecu which is causing the fault as vauxcheck is uk made software.

What interface are you using? You say Elm3XX but there are a lot of knock offs out there that use fake Elm chips. Alot of these will only work under very specific conditions.
Got a link or a pic of the interface?
