Volvo compatible obd II reader?

Hi,

I have been trying to buy an obd II reader for my Volvo S60R -2004 but I have not yet gotten any answers from vendors stating that their interface works with my car.
Does anybody know of an interface that works on my car?

Take a look at http://www.troublecodes.net/articles...xplained.shtml . That explains how to check the vehicle your self to see if it is OBD-II compliant.

If it's an US based vehicle any of the standard OBD II interfaces would work. I imagine a 2004 volvo probably has CAN.

The OBDPro should work on the Volvo. I have tested it on a Volvo S40 (2006)

But again as long as it's a US based vehicle you should have no problems using any multiprotocol OBD II interface

Thumbs up

Hi

The best you can do is buy VADIS software and Hardware from:

http://www.oficinapt.110mb.com/OBD2/index.html
http://www.oficinapt.110mb.com/OBD2/VCT2000.jpg

Then, you will have oficial software for full diagnostic, parts catalog and design and function.

I both one from them, and work without any problem on my S80.

Although I agree in general, VADIS is obsolete and has been replaced by VIDA. Both the old and new systems are compatible with CarDAQ, but you could use the vct if you already have one or want to pay twice as much as necessary. The factory software is surely the right thing to use -- it's awesome.

Any OBD reader that supports the ISO standard will work with the '04 S60R.

I use Alex Peper's OBDII cable but a newer multi-protocol Elm (325?) is a better choice due to its open specification and broader support across 3rd-party applications.

You will only be able to read std. OBD engine stuff though, you can't see things that only the CAN bus knows about like boost. Even if the adapter claims to support CAN. I know of no OBD/diagnostic S/W with the exception of VADIS/VIDA that can and for that you need the $2k VCT2000 pod.

Recognize this interior?
