OBDPro will not connect to 99 Explorer

I have used several software options (digimoto lite, scan tool, obddiag) and none will detect the protocol of the OBDII.

Any ideas?

Yeah that should have no problems.

1. Is the power led lit on the OBDPro?
2. Can you connect to the OBDPro via hyperterminal?
Once you connect via hyperterminal, type in ATSP0, and hit enter.
Then type in 0100 and let me know what happens.

Thanks
Paul

I have never used hyperterminal before, so I really dont know. I do know that the laptop is seeing the OBDPro. The Red LED is on, and communication starts, but suddenly stops. The vehicle is gone, and I probably wont be around it again till possibly monday. I will let you know.

Ok, so I open up Hyperterminal then what? I have never seen it before and have no clue how to connect to the OBDPro through it. I just dont have any experience with this sort of thing.

There is a writeup on how to connect using hyperterm here http://www.obdpros.com/faq.php

Go to the end of the faq for hyperterm instructions.

Also, check to make sure you have all the following pins on the 99 explorer...

http://www.auterraweb.com/obdiipinout.html

You should have pins 2,5,10,16 as stated in the page above.

If you like pm me your ph # and I will talk you through this.

Thanks
Paul

It just says "searching...unable to connect" after typing in 0100.

I am going to check the pins now. I don't see why the pins would be missing, the dealer just reflashed her ecu several months ago during a scheduled maint. They didn't indicate a problem then.

Just to update the thread, after several different attempts at connecting and double and tripple checking everything OBDPro's came to the conclusion of faulty hardware. They are sending a new unit as we speak. Great guys to deal with and very helpful. I will keep you guys posted on the situation as it developes.

The odd thing about it all, is that it has been able to connect with every other make of vehicle I have thrown at it.....just not this Ford...

OBDPros sent a replacement unit to me. I tested it on the suspect vehicle and it passed with flying colors!! I will be sending the bad module back after the holiday so they can find out what was wrong with it.

Great service Paul!! I will highly recommend you guys to everyone I can!!
