OBD-II devices in Centrafuse..Serial or USB?

I'm using the current beta of the new Centrafuse XLE, and I'm getting ready to add OBDII info to the setup. Does is matter if the device hooks up via serial or usb? I've seen mostly serial interface devices but I am starting to see more and more USB interface ones. Does anyone know if Centrafuse cares how it's hooked up?

I know nothing about Centrafuse, but both USB and Serial devices use COM ports, it should not matter to the software which one uses which. There are virtually no benefits to using a USB device if you have a serial port on your computer, it is more a convenience for people who do not (which is becoming more and more common).

Just to add to that, some of the app's only support COM ports in the single digit so com10 etc might nor work, I do not have a vlaid license for centrafuse anymore so cannot validate this, but you should double check to make sure that centrafuse does not have such a limitation
