Digimoto hassle
Ok, currently, in order to get my Digimoto interface and program to work I have to do an intricate dance of plugging, unplugging, turning on, and replugging, as per the instructions. I want to know if there is any way I can leave the OBD interface plugged into the car and the serial interface plugged into the computer and still have it work.

I have heard of other customers mention this, but not all customers experience the same thing. Personally, I can stop the application, power down the vehicle, turn it back on (leaving everything connected) and it works fine. I know there is a reset command to the device ~ this was something we intended to place into 4.03, but we will integrate into 5.0. Have you tried leaving the interface in and simply turning the ignition key to the on position when attempting to connect? Also, what application are you using right now?
I think the instructions were written for the most extreme case when someone simply can not get the device to function. It's better to reset everything entirely if something is not communicating correctly.
edit: There was someone on the forum who mentioned this a while back and then followed up with "oh, nevermind, everything works" ~ it makes me think it is just a process issue on when someone starts the software/vehicle. I will put some time into this and follow up with you.

Thank you. I have not tried turning the car on while trying to connect. I guess I didn't do this because to turn on my PC I usually turn on my car.
While I'm at it I'll also mention that 5.0 completely does not function for me. When I connect it says that it could not detect PIDs and asks if I want to try again. The end result is that no sensors work, even though it appears to be properly connected to the computer.

In the Digimoto folder there is an errorlog that is generated as issues arise. Attach errorlog to and e-mail and send it to bob@digimoto.com. He will assist you in solving these issues.
Digimoto 5.0 is different then 4.03 in that you have to actually hit a "start" button to begin pulling information from your vehicle. Similar to 4.03 you have to check the sensors you wish to begin monitoring before you begin pulling the information. I am guessing that it gave you that message when it attempted to retrieve mode 5 information from your vehicle when you first start up (not all vehicles support this). If you visit our forums you will see there was another customer who stated he could not connect for two weeks only to find out he did not realize he had to hit play:

We'll get some online demos for 5.0 up soon and it will explain a lot of the functionality in 5.0.

Have you been able to pull data yet? Get that all squared away? Just get that data log over to us if you haven't already and we'll figure out what your problem is.

I will as soon as I get an opportunity. It is pretty inconvenient to work on the car PC (not your fault, just because it is mounted in a car). I'll be gone tomorrow but maybe I'll get it done Sunday.
BTW, I am really impressed with your customer service. Between the e-mail support, you on here, and you giving me access to your personal AIM screen name and phone number... I am really impressed. You really know how to treat customers right. ProScan should take a lesson from you.
