Using OBDII connector for Charging Source

Hi All,
New to the forum and I would like to start out with a wierd request for comments, first a bit of background.

I have a customer who wants our company to develope a rechargeable flashlight that would plug into the OBD connector for power to recharge the light. This would be very small and would require very little current but would reside in the connector until needed. I assume that this would be marketed as a giveaway or promo item.

Besides a few of the obvious issues (being in the way of your legs, connector located behind a panel or in ashtray compartment) can anyone think of some valid issues that I can use to discourage this waste of time? Or is this something anyone thinks is a good idea?

Thanks in advance

most/all cars will have a cigarette sockets which cost little money to replace if broken with relative ease, the same cannot be said for OBD2.

This is a stupid idea.

i'd go with the cig lighter idea too. I'm sure you could make (if it doesnt already exist) a torch the exact size of the actual cig lighter.

Cig lighter might be an alternative except I think the idea is to leave the cig port available for other accessories like a Cell charger etc so from that view point this might not be an extremely stupid idea.

So why not just add another cig lighter port somewhere.

in that case add a daisy chain type input on your device so you can run another device through.

obd 2 ports are sometimes in odd places so its not as practical either.
