Problems with laptop --- possible dead battery?

I currently am trying to fix a Toshiba (http://forum.notebookreview.com/autolink.php?id=178&script=showthread&forumid=9) Satellite Pro 6100. I got the laptop and when I received it, it has had some issues. The motherboard was not powering up. I would get lights here and there but barely and it wouldnt power up.

I bought a BRAND NEW motherboard off ebay for $65. I swapped the motherboatd but it still would power up. I charged it for 2 hours and then it powered up. I installed Windows on it and everything was working great! I disconnected the power had it just on battery and it didnt shut off (i only tested that for a couple of seconds). But now, I shut the laptop down for a while and it was disconnected from the wall and now it will not even turn on at all.

I have a green light for power and an orange light for charging. So i charged the laptop for 2 hours and the orange light went green for a full charge. When i was fully charged, I went to turn the laptop on but it took 3 tries of pressing the power button. The laptop turned on, but it shutdown right at the TOSHIBA (http://forum.notebookreview.com/autolink.php?id=178&script=showthread&forumid=9) screen. Now I cannot turn it back on but I now have a green light for power and the charging light is back to orange.

Can this be a DEAD battery?

There is another componet that attaches to the laptop called the POWER board. The power board has the pins where the battery connects to it and it also displays the LED's for the status lights. BUT the lights all light up. Is it possible that that board can be bad? Or does this sound likea battery issue?

I checked the CMOS battery and that is fine!

I was wondering if I could run my monitor (Obviously, not usb powered), my GPS Receiver (USB Powered), and Slim dvd drive (USB powered) on a USB hub, so I would only have to buy a 10ft USB extension cable and a USB Hub. I don't know how much power these would suck off of one USB on the computer.

Road Runner Won't Display Proper Artist/Song/Album Information

Hello,

I seem to be having a problem with Road Runner and the display of Artist/Album/Song.

Sometimes it will only display the name of the song, with the artist and album blank. Other times it will display all the information.

For example, with one song, Avenged Sevenfold - Beast the the Harlot.mp3 it will display

Song: Beast and the Harlot
Artist: Avenged Sevenfold
Album: City of Evil

but for another track: F-Ups - Lazy Generation, it will display:

Song: Lazy Generation
Artist:
Album:

I use iTunes normally for all my music, and I know Windows Media Player can pick up the tags and such that iTunes puts on MP3 files...but why not winamp?

Diameter of Griffin PowerMate knob?

Hi. I'm new to these forums and I was hoping someone could tell me what the diameter of the Griffin PowerMate knob is - not the base - just the knob. All of the specs I've seen list the thing as having a 2.1" diameter but I'm almost certain that is the bottom part which sticks out a bit further than the knob.

I'm ordering one of these things and I want to be sure it will fit where I have in mind. I'm going to remove the base part with the LED for mounting purposes...

Thanks!!!

Ok, I have searched and searched for this and have only yielded old, unapplicable results. I figured that considering how old my unit is that there may have been some kind of breakthrough haha. So as I have mentioned several times, I have an old unit (see title) and I have just installed it into my jeep this morning. It works great and is in excellent condition as it has not been used since my car died a couple years ago. The only issue I have with it, and not big enough to buy a whole new unit, is that it has no auxilary input to plug an ipod in. It does however have a cd-changer input, but I'm not sure if its connected through the RCA input plugs at the back of the unit. As you can tell, I have no clue what I am doing. I was just curious if I could try to make my unit recognize my ipod through the cd-changer input. I figured that if it had the R-L RCA inputs in the back that there would be an input for an external mp3 player. I guess the unit did ship in like 02 or 03.

Oh, and I seemed to have misplaced my product manual so no cigar there.

Thanks,
Landon

Looking for a way to start explorer.exe on the exit of the media engine shell. This would be a very useful feature. explorer can be started after exiting from boot to shell mode by doing an alt+ctl+del and running explorer.exe but thats kind of a round about way. If one were to want to drop to the default windows shell after booting into Media Engine it would be nice to be able to just hit close.
