do the math, they dont want the buy price to go high or the auction to be quick, so a $1 bid = $0.02 increase in buy price, thats sounds fine, the final price will stay nice an low when i win. :) my currency its $0.02 ($0.01us)

re the above PS3 $265.92 / 0.02 = 13296 bids best price is 80c a bid, then that PS3 had about $10,000 in bids spent on it, and the person then paid $265 for it so it only cost them say $300 for that, so that $9700 profit on selling a ps3.

at $45.82 thats still $2000+ for a ps3 all up.

i noticed the same people bidding on all, because there is only one "gamble" or auction for the main items, its not really an auction, really. so they cover all time zones. so waiting toll 1am to place a sneeky bid, means you are bidding against the uk and the usa

One thing that we do is when we make up the rooms, we always turn the TVs to a specific channel (Sirius/XM music). What I tried to do in the past is hook up a PC that has power point on it, and show advertisement for the Hotel. Basically it pops up a welcome message, then lists a 7 day weather forecast, and advertisement on specials that the restaurant and or hotel are having.

Here is the issue. All the TVs are HDTV flat panel TVs, it was one of the things I insisted on to bring us out of the stone age. The problem is that after about 2 days, the images from the PC, actually start to burn into the screen, meaning that when I change a channel, you still see the image of the hotel logo and what not. I know the TV units have a feature to clear this up, but I would have to go to each TV, everyday, and thats impossible. Does anyone have any idea of what I can do to prevent this issue? I know that one thing Dish Network does is constantly move the logo around, which is fine, but I cant do that with the advertisement and weather areas. Hopefully everyone remembers the big thing that was "Cash for Clunkers"?(in the US anyway, I don't know about anywhere else) Well, my mom's boyfriend's son owns a dealership here in town, and she was telling me today that there was a 2005 vehicle that they had to destroy. Now, all of the "clunkers" that got traded in on this "great deal" go through this process:
  1. They are maked so they won't be sold/traded off in everyday business dealings.
  2. The engines are drained of their oil.
  3. The engines are started up and ground glass is poured into the oil.
  4. The glass does its job of jamming the engine up, never to run EVER AGAIN.

To make matters worse, parts absolutely cannot be salvaged! Any add-ons that the vehicles come in with (eg. headache racks, push guards, etc.) stay when the vehicle goes to be crushed. And anything the people want to do when they are destroying the engine outside of bashing windows in(kicking the doors in, etc) they can do as it's going to be crushed anyway.

I wonder if they realize how stupid this is? If they could salvage parts, they wouldn't have to spend extra money getting refurbished or new items, they could go to the "back room" or wherever and get the part for a job. And don't get me started on the engines.... :censored:

And the terms to qualify as a "clunker": If any newer vehicle gets 5 MPG or more than the car being brought in for a trade, it's a "clunker." Most newer vehicles don't get any more mileage than older one do! And if the vehicle being traded in is a 2001 or older, it's a clunker. WTF? Most 2001's are still in decent shape. My Turtle(see sig) gets 50MPG HWY and the EPA says it should get 35 MPG HWY, and it would be called a clunker? Most hybrids can't boast that kind of mileage!
