Microsoft MapPoint 2010 North America has already been released, and very soon even Microsoft MapPoint 2010 Europe will be. Here's a brief look at some of what is new: Review: MapoPoint 2010

MS MapPoint is very similar to the North American consumer version of MS Streets & Trips, or the European version of MS AutoRoute, but in addition to the functions that can be accessed interactively there are many features accessible programmatically. This makes MapPoint more suited for integration in front end software in CarPCs

Hi all;
I am an happy owner of Oregon 550t and I would like to know which method or guide to follow to visualize on the gps more independent tracks pieces simultaneously and together with the preloaded map.
The problem is that if I load these tracks pieces as a single track (since in this gps is not possible to view more tracks at the same time), all the final parts of the pieces are connected with the beginning of the following piece making the vision very difficult.
For this reason I would like to to convert the track to a map and then import it in the gps and put on top of the preloaded map.
As an alternative i could first download the preloaded map from the gps to the pc, insert the track and import everything again.
Note that is not important that the gps follow this track, It could only show it for example like a river; I don't need any navigation function but only see the track with no connecting lines between the pieces.
Does someone of you know the procedure to do this as simple as possible?
All what I have now are hundreds of tracks in .plt or .gpx format not joined and tens of km one far from the other; I must visualize all of them and togheter with the preloaded map.
Thank you for every suggestion.
I'm looking for exactly what the title says, good GPS software that's touch screen friendly for Canadian roads, POIs, (have to know where the nearest Tim Horton's is.) There I made the Canadian joke.
Preferably something with a demo to download before I drop a few hundred loonies but it looks like that's not available for nearly any of them.
Any ideas?

Hey guys I was wondering what software you would recommend for use logging vehicle position vs. time to a CSV file. I would need the software to start when computer starts write a file then close it when the computer shuts down. The name of file could be based on GPS data so it could not overlap (I.E. time and day of trip start). I have a 5Hz GPS which I do not know if will work with many of the programs.

I have searched and found goops, and something in french I don't know what is
http://benichougps.blogspot.com/. There were also some other things mentioned like GPS logger, and GPSSecure, but they go way beyond what I want. Xport3 supposedly can log data (but I don't know how well it works). I have had bad experience with Xport in the past myself.

Goops is full of fancy prettiness which I don't want. I just want it to record the lat and long with time 5 times a second. Then I can plug it into a USGS database later to get altitude.

If I must I might be able to code something like this, but I don't really know anything about coding I just bang my head against problems till they work out usually.

Thanks for any suggestions.

Wanted to see what others thought about this unit, because I think I either have it setup wrong or the unit is broken??

Im using this gps with Iguidance, and it takes about 10 min or so for it to catch signal for directions? Im assuming thats not correct. Any suggestions? Any settings I should change?

Thanks!

Little added info, while driving riderunner shows me my speed, although in km for some reason, but very accurate! So by that I take it that the gps itself is working properly. at the same time iguidance keeps showing me that its "waiting for gps signal" Does that mean something is wrong with iguidance itself??? It found my location just once, at my house and no more?? Here is a picture, sorry for the crappy cell phone pic:
Get to where I had to, shut the truck off and later on went out nav dont work. It shows no satellites, meanwhile nothing changed. I am using xport, USGlobsat BU 353 GPS receiver, and Iguidance. MY previous motherboard setup worked great no issue. Now all of the sudden I have this. The receiver goes directly into the usb on the motherboard. I tried to re-install the drivers, restart the machine but nothing. In xport it shows the gps and bit rate. When I open iguidance itself from desktop and have it search com port for GPS it finds it but no satellites. Any ideas?
I would like to take a quick poll and try to find how may are interest in this product. the under developed gps module with and ethernet connectivity, which has the demision about 2x3 inches. This is a perfect peice of hard ware which you can place it any where on your car or truck. with the build in ethernet port you can simply plug it into any router for rtls.

We are trying to put together apackage below:
1. g4 modem - you get the internet anywhere. $20.00/month - this you can get from us now.
2. Wifi router - this is for your car so that you can plug the gps into for RTLS. and you can
connect any of your wifi enabled device into it while driving, hope not surf and drive!
3. Free online account for viewing current location. plus 10 last point
4. view map on google map.

Please tell me what you think?
