So I've been trying to configure my software for days now and I've run into a few problems. One of which having to do with the power settings in Windows 7.

I would like to set it up so that when I turn off my car (hit the power button) it will go to sleep. So far, I think it does that OK. I run into the problem because after a certain amount of time (~30 minutes) being asleep, I would like it to go into hibernation.

Ive been playing with the power settings and for the most part have not even been able to save the settings I put in (they would appear to save, but next time I go into the power settings, they would be default settings again).

I finally got it to actually save and I set the power button to make it go to sleep, and for it to go into hibernation in 5 minutes (for testing purposes). So I pressed the power button and it went to sleep no problem. Then I let it sit for 15 minutes and nothing happened (it didn't go into hibernate mode). Then when I pressed the power button to wake it back up, nothing happened again!

Assistance please. I am at a loss.

I know I can turn off UAC, but i rather not. Is there a work around to this? :peep:

Alright so while setting up my PC, I remembered reading a thread (cant find it now) where the person set their computer to sleep when the power button was pressed, then to hibernate after being idle for 30 minutes. I did a similar set up to allow me to make quick stops and not have to resume my PC from hibernation. In attempt to stop the PC from hibernating while I'm driving, I scheduled a tack that makes a window appear every 30 minutes. It is set to do this indefinitely and not wake the computer to do it. My issue now is that the message window becomes the active window whenever it occurs. It is less of an annoyance than the computer hibernating while driving, but it is still annoying, and I'm wondering if you guys have any suggestions of how I can stop it from being brought to the top window position. I'm not sure if this will even keep it from hibernating yet because I've not let my computer sit for the duration until hibernation.

I can get a free copy of xp embedded through my school. Is it worth changing my existing setup (xp) to xp embedded?

thanks

"powercfg - a" shows S1, S3, and Hibernate are available, however hybrid sleep is not. No reason is given, it's just listed under modes that are not supported

Sleep and Hibernate both work fine.

Anyone have any thoughts as to why this option is not available, or how I might enable it? Anyone have hybrid sleep working on an MII-12000? Tiny7 rev 1?

Frustrating! :(
