Fantastic! Worked first time. Cheers Ric.
Is it possible to set it to delete any files that don't appear on the server? I have a folder of new/favourite MP3's that I add to and delete from.
At the moment EZSync will copy the files but won't remove the old ones.

Seems to be working great! Thanks much, probably one of the most useful apps I'll be depending on, I'm already starting to dld new music just to abuse it lol.
One feature request - audio option on sync connect and finish. Since it can run in the background without popping up, it would be nice to know if something is being synced or done syncing before I "drive away" from it. I love the resume capability regardless though!
EDIT: I had to remove it from my startup folder. For some reason it's hanging on shutdown and preventing my system from turning off which would ultimately drain my battery if I forgot to turn the monitor on and check to click "end now". Any idea what's causing it? cause it's no longer automatic if I have to load it and unload it each time.

Well, for right now, I hacked the registry to force close any hanging programs. So no rush on a fix if I'm the only one lol.

Are you running the latest version (1.7)? I released a fix for the prevention of shutdown problem.

I'm working on your deletion request, plus the audio on sync request.

Yea, I'm running version 1.8. The hanging part isn't a biggie, as it seems like it still will resume if the process is forcefully ended (probably reacts the same as driving away from access point). I still need to verify it with some big files though. But the force app kill will help with any and all programs that might hang the system up, so it's a good thing I made that change hehe.
In any case, that's great that your working on the requests already! I already have a wav file that says "transfer of data is complete" lol. Gotta find one for "initializing synchronization" or something similar hehe. And the deletion request is good too, I tend to move files around in the mp3 directory and if you were to move a file, ezsync would just transfer that "new" file it sees into the car, but leave the duplicate in the old location. Anyways, keep up the good work!!

Ooops, I meant Ric!
A few more suggestions for you Ric:
1) The program is hard coded to use the c: drive (as is the installer). The machine i want to use as a server has no C: drive (long story) so the install failed.
Sorted it by mapping a drive to myself as c:
Would be nice if this could be any drive.
2) Could you make an option on the server (a tick box) to say 'shutdown client on completion'.
I'd like to be able to shut the car pc down when the files have copied. It would be nice to have the option for this tickbox to either be a default state, or the previous state - as sometimes I'd want the pc shutdown, other times not. But some people may always want this, or never want it.
3) Once a connection has been made, and files copied, the client never re-syncs unless forced to, or disconnected/reconnected.
It would be nice if it polled every min or two after completion, for those times when you're not sure what you want to copy and you're adding more files into the folders once you've parked your car.
The program is great though - works perfectly - very impressed!
Thanks for your hard work!
Craig

Just realises it re-syncs every 60 mins - can you scrub point (3) above and give us the option to change the re-sync time?
Oh, one more thing (sorry!) - is there any way to start the program minimized/in systray?
Thanks
Craig

Thanks for all the feedback. I'm working on a new release at the moment and I'll try and fit in the stuff you've come up with. I always intended to make the re-sync time configurable, but somehow it slipped thru the net !
Richard.

At present it doesn't re-sync files that already exist. That will be coming in a later version, where I'll use the last modified information as part of the checks to determine whether to sync a given file.

I have the same problem here - what's the hack you need to make to Windows?
I've made one and it hasn't worked - the PC still hung shutting down ezsync.
Thanks
Craig

Go to your registry (Start > Run > regedit) and navigate to:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\Desktop
Look for: AutoEndTasks, double click it and change the 0 to a 1.
This will make windows forcefully close any hanging apps when shutting down without any attempt to safely close the program.
Other things I changed:
WaitToKillAppTimeout - this determines how long it will take for it to end the task, default is 20 seconds.
HungAppTimeout, I changed the value to 1000 (1000 = 1 sec).

Are you guys shutting down or hibernating? And this is on the Car PC, not the server PC right?
I'm planning a new release, and I'd like to get this one fixed so please provide as much info as possible.
Thanks,
Ric.
