If the server cannot bind to the port (correct number is 6891 by the way) this means that there is already a process listening on that port number or there is some other issue with your TCP stack.
Make sure you aren't trying to run the program more than once. It installs itself in the startup group so it'll run when Windows boots. Have you tried to run it when it is already running? Are there two entries in the startup group? Have a look in task manager to see how many instances of ezsyncsrv.exe are running - should be only one.
If you're certain there is only one version running, try changing the default port number to a different value. Pick a similarly high number eg 7634. See the sticky for details of the registry setting to change. If you can get the server to start up with a different port number then this means there is already a process using the default port.
Ric.

I am having similar problems.
1. I installed the server but it didn't ask for a username and password.
2. I don't get an icon in my system tray.
3. When I run it I get the port message, because it is already running. I only have on entry in my startup.
4. I cannot closer the server. Even when i try to kill the process from task manager it won't die!
Because I cannot enter my password, I cannot get the client to sync. The client can detect the server and passes 4 stability checks but doesn't go any further.
I have tried un-installing, rebooting and re-installing, but the same each time.
Any ideas? I'm stumped.

What is the name of the process that won't die you are killing in task manager? What happens when you try to kill it?
Have you installed both the server and the client on the same machine for testing purposes? And have you installed them both to the same directory?
Answering these questions won't directly tell me what is wrong but it should help me determine what to do next.

The process that I have tried to kill is "ezsyncsrv.exe" and it fails to stop after I have started the "EZSync Server" to get the configuration options. Is this the only way of changing the configuration options? The reason I ask is that it obviously complains (port busy error) when "ezsyncsrv.exe" is already running. It is usually after a couple of these errors that the process refuses to stop. When it fails to stop, nothing seems to happen when I am trying to stop the process. Is is almost as if it just ignores the command.
I haven't tried the client and server on the same PC. I can browse the files on my car PC from my Home PC and vice versa, so I know my network is ok.
The client seems to have installed OK on my car pc, but the server does not seem to work correctly. e.g. When the server is started for the first time after installation, it asks me for the installation drive of the client, but never asks for a password. Also I do not have any .DAT files in the C:\ezsync folder, just ezsyncsrv.exe and ezsyncsrv.ini. Also I do not have a System Tray Icon for it either.
Thanks

You should get an icon in the system tray when the server first starts. Double click to get to the config window. Depending upon settings/version the window also appears when you first start the application. You can't run more than one instance of the server application - if it is already running, starting another definitely won't get you anywhere.
Can you post the contents of ezsyncsrv.ini
Edit: Also, what OS are you running, and what version of EZSync?

ric355 - I have now got EZSync working. It would seem that I needed to reboot immediately after installing it to get the system tray icon. After the reboot it asked me for the username and password too.
Thanks for your support anyway, and it is a great bit of software.
