Need some ideas to finish my custom sono tube build :D

Alrighty soo I've been wanting to do my own custom install for a while now. I wanted to acheive a more compact design- one that didnt take up much trunk space, was easy to remove if needed and that was still loud enough and cool looking to not only make me happy, but impress my friends too.

Thus came the idea of the sono tube! With the design concept settled, I started looking for the perfect sub to make all the magic happen. I wanted something beefy, but in a 10". After some research, I ended up going with tcsounds oem tc10 and their matchin passive radiator (which might I add is one sexy little thing!!).

The first two pictures are what my sub looks like from the factory pics, and the others are of my tube. Construction on my tube is finished, but the rack I made still isnt glued, and the rest of the install is still in creative thought...

Soo far what I'm thining of doing is sliding the tube as far over to the right sideas I can. I'm going to mount the "unfinished" rack you see in the picture to the plywood floor. The tube is going to be removeable soo I need to try and come up with some sort of claspe system to hold my tube in place on the rack (thats one thing I need ideas on..) Then what I was thinking to do was mount my amp and cap below the floorboard, with plexyglass top, flush to the floor itself...

If any of you have any ideas/comments on what I've come up with so far, please feel free to help! thank you

its a really cool design man, if that was my install i would take the stand that the sub is on, beef it up a bit more structurally, and then fibreglass it and cover it in the same carpet as the tube, then mount the stand to a false floor by bolting thru the bottom, or with velcro. i'd have the false floor cos it'll make building your amp in much easier. i have pics of this in my post "mistakes with fibreglass" and i'm sure there are many more on the site

Yeah, I may just do that. That would give it more of that subtle, stock look... like its part of the car. I was going to do something along those lines before. I originaly was going to position the tube in my trunk with sub facing one wheel, and passive facing the other, fiberglass the whole rack, then make a fiberglass amp rack that would sort of "pop out" from the tube rack. I almost started working on it, but when I listened to the tube in that position it didnt sound right. It sounded much better the way it is in my picture.

Hey, would u have any ideas on what I could do/use to secure my tube down to the rack? Everything else will be bolted down with tamperproof screws... but I'm trying to come up with something that will pretty much lock my tube down, but allow me to remove it when I need to??

thats a tough one! obvious answer would be some kind of strap, but thats definately not gonna look stock, or particularly cool. how about fabricating a metal loop (wrapped in material obviously to avoid vibrations) on the side of the tube, and another one fabricated next to in on the rack, and have a pole that pushes between to lock them together, kinda like a gate bolt? you could fab all the mechanisms into the stand so it would barely be seen, thus appearing stock? if you need me to i'll knock something up in paint to explain the idea. i know it sounds a bit ghetto, but with a bit of thought it could look really good.

OK here is the rough idea, now for the record, all of the loops would have to be the same size, and as close together as you could get them, also the hoops and bolt would need some thick material covering them or you'll here the metal knocking together. i have just drawn it spaced out for illustration purpose.

there are several design options available from here too, for example you could hide the stand loops within the fibreglass so when it's in place you can't see the mech at all? but thats all down to personal preference

Soo today I finaly got some time to mess around in my trunk to see what all I could start on. I took my tube out and the stockfloor board and quickly realized my idea wasn't going to work. For some reason I thought there was going to be alot more room in between the wheel and where the floor is going to be so I could do my floor amp rack and keep my spair... but once I got in there and looked at it again there was barely any room at all. A little disapointing, but I played around with different placements of the tube and think I finaly figured out something different that gives me room in my trunk, allows me to access my spair and gives me a place to put my amp.

Where the tube is now, I have both the sub and passive cornerloading. You cant see the cone of my sub very well in this position... but I figure ah well it sounds best like this. For my amp I'm going to see if I can fabricate some sort of vertical rack for it... probably right where it's at in the pic. I will have everything mounted to a new floorboard, and I might even rig up a trap door to get to my spair.
