stock color dash paint

is there a paint or a way to find the color code for my interior plastics? its a 98 blazer LT with all tan interior. i have a spare dash bezel im hacking apart to fit my screen. but if it comes down to having to make it smooth, i would like to paint it to match my interior. if need be and i buy a 02/03+ dash bezel that is DD, what do i need to paint it to match my interior? the DD dash bezels do not come in tan, whick kinda sux. but how would black or charcoal grey look on a tan interior to all of you? the dash bezel looks like this...

well as i was looking for a picture of the dash, i came across the perfect one. its from a 99 bravada. i cant really tell if the color is the same as my interior.

black usually goes with anything as far as i know...

As far as painting, the interior paint work I've done included these steps:
Light Sanding
Cleaning
Degreasing
Priming
Painting (multiple layers, duh)
Clear coat...

sounds good, but i want it to still have that stock texture. i think i can skip that sanding, even a little bit. as long as its clean, it should stick. i did use some black interior oaint once in my 95 taurus dash bezel. it was grey. like this one i have now. and i painted it black. it stuck and looked nice. is there a clear coat i can get thats not glossy?

You can call or go to your local car dealer and get the color number for your blazer. Also you can use texture paint that is pretty close to what is in the blazer now. 3m makes some good spray on paint. I have use it and it takes a little trial and error to get it right. The trick that i found was to let the texture dry then take 400 grit wet sand paper to it lightly and see how it looks. I put 2 layers on my dash bezel and it turned out pretty good. Yes there is a clear coat that is not glossy SEM paint makes it.

Call a local auto upholstery shop and find out what/who they use to dye their dashes. There are several products that I have used in the past that work great. The best and usually easiest to find is the SEM aerosol. here is a link to it: http://www.sem.ws/product.php?product_id=190 on the right side of the page is an expandable color pallet. good luck!

I hope I caught you in time. This is an easy diy. The interior code is in the glove box on a sticker. At the bottom of the sticker it will start like this BC/CC wa8555 or something close thats the paint code. If it is two tone or has trim it will be followed by another wa1234 or similar that is the trim code. Then directly out from that on the same line there will be another. That is the interior code. If you are not painting anything that is soft(vinyl,leather,or carpet) I wouldnt use sem or any other dye. Paint store can just mix a paint made for interior. If you are painting something soft and something hard use sems brand, and spray adhesion promoter on the hard surface. If you do not have a paint gun keep looking for a paint store that can mix paint and put it in a aerosol can, they are out there. Like everyone else said clean first. It is the most important part. First use soap and water and the preclean wax and grease remover.

Often on many GM panels, you can flip it over on the back, and it will have the OEM color standards on it. Like on my 96's door panels it has "RUBY RED" stamped on it, and some OEM standard, which should be something with 9933 in it. It should have more than one standard listed, just as my panels do.... One for the accenting black, and one for the color.

What color is the Blazer? Green, Red, Black, whatever. I got a book that lists all interior colors and codes. If it is green or whatever I can tell you what was used that year with green paint. There maybe a whole lot of different colors on a blazer, but usually just a few interior colors.

its 2 tone. white with brown/bronze lower 1/4. interior is tan. i have all the information that was provided with my vin from a gm service tech site. i just need to read through the info i have to see if there is an interior trim color code. i have pictures on the link in my sig.

Well friend, I am sorry to say that I am not much help. I found three colors used with that two tone combo. code 16 wa148b (this one is almost to white) code 67 wa102e and code 65 wa101e (I think its this one) these are all close to what it looks like on MY monitor at work. Paint store will have chips to look at. Or... this is a awesome site I think its something like http://www.tcpglobal.com/autocolorlibrary/ try that site its fun to look through for colors and stuff. You can see the chips I am talking about on there.

I've painted interior parts a few times and have had less than stellar results using the spray cans....their color pallets are hardly ever right. I tried the SEM stuff on my bezel this weekend and the color was ridiculously off from SEM's own pallet so I'm giving up and am going to have a part color matched like I did last time. It's only slightly more expensive, I can spray it on with a real gun, and it will compensate for any fading that might have occurred. I should have done that the first time.
