I don't know if you're interested in production work, rather than custom fabs, but here's a thread that might be interesting:

Where in Florida are you?

7in, brightness is a little bit better.

Do you need to send your old screen back in first?

You do some amazing work! Really, it looks very OEM!

Thanks for sharing the texture paint you use. I never found good texture paint over here in Belgium. Now I found a SEM dealer in the Netherlands wich is not too far for me.

I work part time at my friends bodyshop installing audio systems. Since we both have a Car PC in our car, customers see them and also want one. So I will be installing some screens in the near future so it's good to know were I can get some decent texture paint. Thanks!

Dude, that's some flawless work. What material are you using to create the bulk of that single gauge pod in this picture?

And if you don't mind my asking, what about this white stuff here? Is that just fiberglass or some kind of putty?

Yea, a can of the texture is $25 a shot, so it is pretty expensive, it is also very hard to work with, everytime it is sprayed, it needs to be sanded down smooth so the texture still exsist but the surface is not rough. I found that 400 grit does the best job for making this happen!

I might be lol. Some of the ideas come from me and others come from the customers themselves, from here I make it happen, IF it is do-able.

First I took fleece and stretched over my structure, from here I used resin to make this soft fleece, hard. once you reach this point you have to add fiberglass mat which is what you see in the pictures. The fiberglass mat gives the pod strength. Sand down after every layer and reaply the fiberglass mat.

In this picture of the process no putty whatsoever has been added. This is actually how it looks after the fleece has been sanded down. it needs to be sanded down flat so the fiberglass mat can go on flat and add strength. The putty you are talking about is actually body filly, in which case I use 2 different types.

One being Duraglass which is short strand body filler aka Reinforced Body Filler, which is used to build low spots and strength the pieces even further.

The second filler I use is Rage Xtreme which is a Lite Weight Body Filler which is spread and sanded down to be smooth for paint.

Hope this helps!
