I have been searching the internet for a while now, and I want a custom fiberglass subwoofer enclosure like this in the back of my datsun 280z. I want the box to be at a 45 degree slant and the angle side will house three 12 inch subs, the two on the outside will show the magnet, while the one 12 inch sub in the middle will have the magnet in the box.

(IS EVERYONE FOLLOWING ME)

on the other side of the box (THE SIDE THAT FACES THE FRONT OF THE CAR) That will have my amp screwed down on it.

(IS EVERYONE STILL FOLLIWING)

My car is an older Z car It is a hatchback, just like the newer 350z.

My question again is how do I make a custom fiberglass box like all the show cars have.......

If The pic will show, I want something like this.

I really haven't had time to search this forum because i have no time to research this anymore. I have a project car, and i have been working on it for about a year now, and I really want to finish it.....

If I don't get the right answers, I will just call my local custom audio shop which sells nothing but memphis audio equiptment to see what they will charge, and how long it would approximately take to do something like this.

But I really want try and do this subwoofer project myself.

Everyone help is greatly appreciated, and I would like some good solid answers.

So you're asking the people on this forum to take their time to do your research for you, because you don't want to do it yourself? It's better if you take your time and do the research.

But here's some basic information: start here, and here, and here, and read this sticky topic in this forum. If you still need more information, Google "build fiberglass subwoofer enclosure" or something like that. Then, if some part of the undertaking still isn't clear, ask specific questions. There's lots of help available, but you should take the initiative.

Or you could bypass all the research and find a fabricator to do it for you. For that process, read this. Either way will be interesting and educational.

Actually, the most important thing is to have fun getting to the enclosure, not just having it. Enjoy the journey.

Its a such a wide spread question... what is your skill history? have you used fiberglass before? What tools are available to you? If you ask solid questions you will receive solid answers.

So what would constitue the "right" answer? Usually, this attitude implies that if people don't tell you what you already think, then they are wrong. Even though they may be giving you correct and realistic information. Besides, it looks like you havn't researched anything, other then pictures of what you want. So how do you know the right answer?

I say take it down to the shop you feel 'da shiznet (memphis audio? huh?!) and have them do it. If your building a show car, have been working on it for a year, and havn't yet learned anything about custom enclosurs or fiberglassing.. well, good luck.

i haven't been doing customizations very long. but i have done just about all of my car interior, from the door panels, to the rear window panel, along with all the rest of the panel in my car, as well as a custom woofer set to hold 3 12's. and my amp is on the back of my box as well. so i know what u mean by the set-up. it only took me 1 day to do the set up, get the fleece on it, and get 1 layer of fiberglass resin on it. i have pix on my myspace page. if you go to myspace and search my name, p-wee the disciple, you can go to my pics and look at work in progress. other than that, you can get a lot of info with pictures of the process on www.the12volt.com. type in fiberglass subwoofers in the search box on the right of the page. a search page will come up. this is a cut and paste, so go to the one that says this," How to Make a Fiberglass Enclosure", this page shows all the steps with pics, and directions in typing for everything u need to do. i already knew how to fiberglass, but i have learned something new on everything i have read about fiberglassing. it is not hard, but your first project is time consuming. after that. it's a breeze. if you have any other que's i can help you with let me know.
