Dammit Gumby!! I went to clean some of the scratches from the LCD and wound up breaking it. So........I ordered a new one (found 2 in Canada for $72 +ship). We'll see how well the old one pops out and the new one goes in. Expecting it to look really nice.
Anyone want a broken Imon cheap? lol

OK, change nine! Found the power plug wasn't seated right, then found a dark tinted window over the LCD (why it was dim). There are still 2 in Canada if anyone is looking. Good price too.
Soooooooo, went back to square 1 and decided to put labels on for the functions I have programmed. It turned out really good, I think. It has been such a pain I'll never do it again, but it's done and I'm happy with it. The labels made a really big difference in the overall look. I am going to try and get a better picture during the day. The flash picks up every fingerprint and smudge. And I still haven't made that darned USB plug. That'll be next.
Oh yeah, I went and got a "mouse" (b&d sander) so no rounded edges! woohoo! MUCH better fit now.

nice imon brother -_-
i was wondering what you did on yours so i looked up your threads heh.
i didn't know the radio bracket was the exact size of the imon. interesting.
FYI: i'd get some kind of plastic cap for that USB port... maybe one from some fancy USB cable or something. Unless you always have a flash drive in it, it would look a lot better if it's covered up.

It's all changed since then and about to be changed more. I used a chrome USB port that mounts flush and looks REALLY nice. The last time I modified the radio housing (installed hub, bluetooth, xm usb thingy, and rewired the DVD player) and remounted the iMon, I didn't get it in the right place and the faceplate broke loose. Now that the computer is complete, the next phase will be to go back and clean up some of the fabrication.

Took a picture of an imon, then edited the labels to how I wanted them (renamed and colored black with white font), adjusted the scale to match a REAL iMon, then printed out on label sticky material, using an exacto, cut them out, apply, and then cover with about 5 layers of clear coat and sand level (finishing with 1000 grit).

Here is the usb mount I milled down to fit.

$10 is a lot for a USB extender plug, but it really does look nice mounted. I'll try to get some pictures soon. Didn't think anyone was following this thread. lol

I guess if I went the "long route" and checked the thread in the actual location, I would have known that. Silly me, I just open up "private messages" and subscriptions and look for replies. Views doesn't show up under subscription.
I need to update everything including my "show off your ride" thread as EVERYTHING has changed except the touchscreen, and it has even been remounted since I broke the touchscreen overlay. I think the only thing I still use out of my "original" computer, after switching the internal wireless over to mini-pci yesterday, would be the internal bluetooth module, the DVD player (I run 2) and the touchscreen main assembly.
I really REALLY need to have an online garage sale!
