mounting 10.4" screen in mini cooper?

its barely going to fit width wise, depth is no problem as the screen is like 1" deep

height isnt a problem either, as all i had to do was relocate my a/c controls, already did that. anyways, i have to take the shell off the lcd, and mount the bare LCD somehow. its that Shark 10.4" LCD for $200.

what is the best way to do this? make some sort of bezel/frame out of MDF or something im assuming, for the LCD to mount to? then glass it flush somehow?

also, what and where would i mount the board to?

any tips will be appreciated.

Pictures would help immensely, even if they're from someone else's car. Then we'd know how the location looks. Pictures of the disassembled dash and the pieces you want to put in it help even more. They tell us what to consider.

The more you tell the forum about your skills and experience, and about your plans, the more people who've done similar things -- or suffered similar nightmares -- will step up.

I did it this way. Not sure it's the best way, but it worked. I made a mounting plate that I bolted to the original radio mounts. I then made a lightweight steel bracket for the bottom, and just a screw to hold the top. The mounting board is 'picture frame' style, so I can reach though and connect/disconnect wires easily enough. It allowed me to mount all of the other stuff and just connect the screen at the last.

The tough part of doing it this way, is making the bezel look exactly right.
