05 Scion tC aka Celine - CarPC

i posted up a intro on myself in the newb section but heres a reintroduction lol with pics (i decided not to make a work log because everything i've done someone already did it but better so ya)

CarPC specs:
8" TS (the gooddeals18 screen)
Via VB7001
M-Audio Audiophile 2496
M2-ATX
Dvd Drive
120G HD

the screen is plugged into an inverter for right now i'm kinda scared of running it on the psu idk y

my workstation hehehehe

its not perfect theres a hole on the right i couldnt fill in and i couldn't sand down grrrr

originially the pc would have fit behind the monitor i even made an enclosure (its hidding behind the mb quart box under the lights)
but the soundcard would not allow me to fit the pc in the center console soooooooooo i had to buy a case

gawd i was looking hi and lo for fans w/out leds. (4fans + cpufan hahahaha excessive i now but its vegas airtemp outside gets to 115 i'll prolly take a fan or few out as i add more stuff on)

yes its behind my seat for now because i have a sub enclosed in a spl designd box (aka a nonfunctional trunk)

You could have done a better job with the edges, paint, and even texture, but not bad for a first attempt.

I will agree, sort of. A first attempt assumes you will redo it. If you are satisfied with it, then that's what matters. You will have to look at it every day, in every kind of light, and your passengers too. For me, I'd see all the flaws and it would just kill me to not redo it. That's why I've taken so long to do my project. At least yours is running. That's more than a lot of members can say.

If I were you, I would order a new dash and screen bezel, and start over (while keeping attempt one in the car) and do it up right. Make sure every edge is perfect, all the surfaces are nice and smooth before paint. I really think it would be worth it to redo. Unless you plan to get rid of the car in the next year or so.

someone make a howto on making a straight edge please hahaha

surface prep was done and i thought it turned out better than i had hoped (lol cuz i though i would just completely screw up). i couldnt get those pin holes sanded down so i'm gonna find a way to fill it somehow.
the paint is that way because its just primer (and my hands were sweaty so u could see my finger prints its like right over 100 in vegas right now at night) and i'm not really done with the console

im still working on the remote line and the power to the screen. soooo not a redo but a i'm still working on it

Getting straight edges, posts 122, 126,

The whole thread has a ton of great info. For pin holes, use bondo glazing putty or flixible high-build primer. For the straight edge, don't cut right on the line you want, leave some room to sand it down to a perfect edge.

Here's another bezel, that I did, to show that it can be done:

The curved area on the top of the screen bezel was one of the harder things to do with my bezel. Let us know how your refinement process goes.

i saw the thread except i really only read the first page only because 10 is intimidating (and i didn't realize there was more)

i'll post more on the redo after this weekends carshow and my vacation woot
