Need ideas on how to accomplish getting a screen fabbed into my bezel please..

We just got a 2007 Dodge Nitro.. I would love to get a carputer installed but I just can't see how I would get a screen fabbed into the bezel..

Here is a blank bezel:

And here is a factory image:

The issue I have is the vents above.. I obviously don't want to lose them so I don't see how I could get a screen to fit..

Anyone have any ideas?

Thanks

if its a double din , the 7" lilliput should fit right in ...
just make brackets for it on the back of the dash piece

You sure? It doesn't look like one would fit in..

Maybe it's not a double din.. Maybe it's a 1.5 Din..

tbird... never sure ... lol
always trying though (;
it could very much be a 1.5 in which case the spacing for the monitor shoould be extended a little on the bottom part of the opening... prbably another half an inch...
my suggestion is ... get the widescreen 7" lilliput and then measure how much is needed to be extended to fit the screen itself (without it's casing.

If I were you, I'd put the screen on top of the vents. Don't have to look down this way. and you have some kind of a platform up there already. Should not be very dificult. also I'd angle it a bit towrds the driver.

I don't have a pshop at work, but what I mean is - there is a plastic platform on top of them. Look at how navigation screan is located on Volvos. May be you'll understand better what I mean.
your monitor would be continuation of bezel this way, protruding up your dashboard

OMG, the answer is right in front of you!!!!!!!! By the way I love the Nitro, that SUV is so f^&kin hot, to bad its to small for my family.

See at the bottom under the radio area there is a part that that slants out? Simply make that lower and that should give you the room you need. You dont have to worry about moving the vents then. I would go with a EBY701 because they are thinner at the bottom and have the buttons on the side. If you are taking the screen out of it original bezel then it will fit as is, you may have to do mild cutting. On mine, I had a slant at the top so I had Nexson move the slant up to allow the screen to fit. In your case, your moving the slant at the bottom down.

HiJack, you got before pics of yours? So you're saying if I took the screen out of the bezel it would fit into that opening without modification? I just wouldn't have button access??

Hmmm.. Wonder if something like this would work? Looks like maybe NO fab needed?

It looks long enough, that it may fit the screen complete. The best thing to do is buy the screen and try it. You will have to end up buying one any ways for your install. Just make it the first thing you buy. I do not like taking the screen out of the casing. I felt that the EBY701 looks like something Dodge would put in its car. I wanted the HU look, not the intergrated looks. Even my dash top screens still use the EBY701 bezel even though the buttons are removed.

That screen you linked to is basically the EBY701 but with a custom bezel. It may work. Email the guy for the measurements of the bezel, then measure yours and compare.
