Double Din with Motorized LCD Chassis from China

Hi:

This is my first post and hope not the last. I'm from Peru and have been reading a lot this forums and surfing the web. I found cheap indash dvd tv tuner with motorized lcd on chinese web sites. I was thinking about getting one unit for about $300 including shipping and tearing it apart just for use the chassis and motorized LCD and the custom frame that houses the front usb & SD card slot (Nice!). Do you think that the size of the device can hold a mini-itx inside??. It's a good idea or i have to go with a custom chassis and LCd like others.

Right now i have an Intel Atom Board , with dc-dc power and 2.5 sata2 HD, memory, etc. Just needing the enclosure.

Thanx in advance for your answers.

If the LCD is not VGA then your display will be fuzzy when trying to read the text.

Also, without the actual dimensions of the device, it is hard to say whether a mini-itx will fit inside or not.

Yeh the res. is about 600 x400 (it no VGA) and the video is cotrolled by a ribbon cable. I have been reading about LVDS but no one can answer me if a PC can control this video interface. I see some commel SBC that have this interface, but not sure about the way i have to interface this SBC with the LCD.

Best Regards,

I do not think that it would worth if you do it. because you spend lots of time and money on it and at the end of the day you will have a fuzzy and bad graphic quality with lots of grounding noise on it. and then you decide to put your 300 dollars LCD into your room rubbish bin and purchase a VGA LCD.

The PC can work with LVDS (laptops do) but you'll have to buy an adaptor card that will drive that LCD. By the time you've done that, it will be at least as expensive as buying a VGA screen to begin with. Plus, the final solution will be fuzzy. So...equal $$$, more effort, less resolution = Screen Fail.
