It's only the dash piece that is angled, the inner parts are pretty flat.

Did you make that frame for visual purposes only? Or does it really hold the LCD in place?

do you have any pictures of your dash removed? I am trying to do the same but trying to figure out what screws I need to touch to pull that center dash piece off.

also, how do you like the lilliput so far? is quality ok? are you experiencing the burnt-in dragon image effects?

It's predominently a visual effect, although I will possibly put some buttons in and the IR sensor. It does not hold the screen in at all.

I have not removed the centre dash, unless you mean the plastic holder that the climate control and HU sit in.

Lilliput is generally OK, no screen burn in. It is me second, this first one is now a headrest monitor coz the TS and VGA don't work (this is due to it being taken apart and put back together too many times while designing the in dash fitting.

My goal was to remove that piece -black plastic frame the HU and the HVAC controller sit in-, but I couldn't find the screws holding it. I have a Bentley manual on CD but I can't find it so I just tried to figure out on my own.

If you did not take the whole center dash, did you only take that frame piece out?

Also, how do you keep the LCD in place, is it mounted to that frame piece?

At this point, my HVAC controller, headunit, and the grill above the HU are all out.

As for Lilliput, yours is the older model right? (619?) Did you order it from HK?

OK, it's very tricky to get that piece out the first time.
First of all there are two screws that screw it to the air vent above, you need to remove those. *edit* you've found those I see.



there are now two screws to each side of it.

If you look at the pics of one taken out you will get an idea maybe.

these are some photos which will be the base of a tutorial I am putting together.

You should notice the extra pieces down the sides which have the screw holes. You will need a small stubby philips head screw driver.

It will probably be best to remove the OBC and the sunglass holder so you can reach up and behind.

Also have some plasters/bandaid ready coz you are more than likely going to scuff your fingers/back of hand.

The lilliput in their at the moment is one I got from CarTFT.com it has the new 10 pin plug. The older one is now in the headrest, that came from hong kong. Although the cases have been swapped.

thanks a lot. the pics are worth a thousand words. I was able to feel the screws on the sides, but except for one, it is almost impossible to take them out without pulling the front dash out. Do you remember by any chance the locations of screws to take out to pull the dash out?

ok, I installed the monitor in the upper area where HU and HVAC control were;
(not like you did though) but there was so much reflection and light on the display that it is almost impossible for me to use it during the day. I had tints on the rear windows before so it was ok, but now the tints are gone and it won't work for me.

I guess I will move it again to sunglass holder area. I installed a short shifter so the shifter is not so close to the screen and there seems to be enough clearance. I just need to be more careful while using it.

well, I took it out before long, so no pics. but I used a hinge (one side long and other side short - like those for garden gates). Epoxied the long side to the HU bay, and short side to the shroud of Xenarc. Also used more epoxy to hold the hinge at an angle. The biggest problem was reflection. Second problem was it bounced a lot because of the monitor's weight at the tip of the hinge. It was pretty hard to hit the little buttons while driving.

Unless I had issues w/ tint, I would tint the rears dark, and most reflection issue would be resolved.

Bezel is almost finished, just needs a little more sanding and filling.
