Holding my LCD into my custom dash piece

Ok, I used the front part of my lilliput housing but its butchered up bad and I don't think I can get the back on there again. I had tacked my screen behind the dash with superglue for a while with until I decided to put my DVD drive below my screen...When taking it out my touchscreen wouldn't come undone from one spot and cracked But I bought another one from BadAndy4You. Also the edges of the dash piece were pushing on the touchscreen too hard causing it to think it was being pressed.

Anyways my question is What would be a better way of mounting it without pushing it against the dash piece too hard? If I put a few strips of balsa wood pieces around the edges of the LCD, could I tack it to that instead? Also should I use a piece of foam or rubber or something to cushion the edges of the touchscreen so it doesnt think its being touched? Sorry for the long post guys...

Are you sure you don't have any bumps or uneven spots in the frame that the LCD is in? I'm assuming it's the front of the lilliput case, but if it has superglue chunks on it, that would cause some problems. You should try sanding it all smooth. The TS doesn't like things pushing against it.

yeah, i am gonna smooth it the best i can...its kinda butchered, i guess i could fill in low spots with bondo on the back side...sure its ok to put the TS right against that plastic again? just without as much pressure?

It should be fine. The original mounts are pretty tight, but then it's perfectly flat from a mold. Doing the fabrication and all, it could have slightly twisted it as well, which could cause problems too. I wouldn't think the very outer edge would be sensitive though, so make sure it's lined up on the screen evenly and taped down good.

aight I'm thinking about using some of those little foam rubber standoffs in the corners...dunno

i still need some way to push the LCD screen against the dash piece and hold it in...maybe some kind of wood strips across the back of it glued to the back or something

Not sure about the standoffs. They could press on the TS.
Hopefully, Batman doesn't mind me posting his site everywhere, but it has great pics (page 3) on how to fasten the LCD down. I did something similar, but didn't use the front of the case. Instead, I used bondo right on the sides (wrapped the LCD in plastic wrap first) and drilled holes in it like 1/16th of an inch away from the LCD. Then used large nylon washers and screws to hold the LCD down. If you do it that way, then maybe use those screws and zip-ties to hold the PCB in place.
