Talking Cheap Plastic case for Carputer

Hey guys while at the hardware store looking for a case to hold my MB and all in the car i found this piece of tupperware

Its actually decor which is a 4.75L plastic tub which really has the perfect size for all the parts i have

I can easily install the MB (with ram), PSU and HDD into the case and have space left over.

the way the case is made its not that thick and will hold the MB and everything else verticle a 3.5" hdd will fit in here nicely

All id have to do is carpet the sucker to make it look good in the boot

I am in australia but im sure this or something like it can be found easily i couldnt find it in the supermarkets only in the hardware store in homewares/storage

So what do u think? $9 case its not bad

Heh, nice. I have a similarly cased computer set up in my kitchen. Thought it would match the decor

The one caveat with a plastic case like that is that it won't dissipate static electricity very well, and therefore charge can build up which could potentially damage something. I havn't had any problems on mine, but it's not in a moving vehicle either. It's probably unneccesary, but if you want to take it safe you should put grounding points around the case.

Thats a good point i will look into that thanks

I have used the metal plate and cut the plastic out so it just pops in and it looks great

I will make some ground points to be on the safe side thanks for the tip

The picture isnt very good iv got a crappy poloroid 2.0mp cam and it doesnt take pictures very well if there isnt any natural light around.

The plate is centre i dont know why the pic showed it as crooked prob cause its on my bed when i took the pic
