My Camaro Radio Bezel Fabrication Picture Diary (56k warning)
Well, I had been posting progress on a Camaro message board and it just doesn't get as much interest as I figured it would here haha, constructive criticism is welcome just don't flame please. This is my first ever try at fabrication of any kind, as well as fiberglassing and what not. Anyway, below are the pictures, each has a name that you should be able to get a basic idea of what it is from the name, if not the picture.

Next up will be of course applying resin, and then fiberglassing it. So far I'm not really liking the shape, but unfortunately there's not too many ways to fit a 10.5" touch screen into a 94 Camaro radio bezel.

lol truthfully I have no clue, that's why I did some balsa wood frame on the outside to hopefully have it adhere to that, once it takes shape and form I plan on just dremeling most of that out and building up layers on the outside

fiberglass resin will stick to plastic like crazy. It'll firmly attach to the bezel.

an average undershirt. 100% cotton, which I know isn't the most recommended fabric since it absorbs the most, but I don't mind having to use more resin to get the job done. I'm VERY anxious to get going on the resin part and get this in my car.

Well, I have gotten quite far in my fabrication. All that's left is final shaping and smoothing, primer, and paint. I have to say this was the easiest project for how difficult I originally thought it'd be. Of course... I haven't test fit it yet either.

Nice work! You advanced to the red spot putty way too soon though. That stuff is really only suited for filling the very smallest of imperfections because it shrinks like crazy especially when you apply primer/paint over it. Get some of this stuff. Block that red putty and reinforced filler down a ways, and bury it all with a thin smooth layer of the Evercoat and your finished product will be much nicer.

yeah truthfully I'm not so much worried about the final product this time, this is only going to be the prototype, but I do want it to look decent. I'm already in plans for v2. I want to get this all up and running first, and then I'll be doing it all over again a few months down the line.

Again, picture name is basic description. Next up is filling the holes that were created by cutting away at the fiberglass to close the glove box and bolting the knee bolster back on. It's getting closer.
