Thanks for the backside photo. That just cleared up everything.
Also great tip on the wires too. I was wondering what kind of wires people were using.

thanks man
I can't remember exactly what I did, but it was VERY easy on the Z. I may have just added some foam tape for a more snug fit, but its almost like that Z part was made for a 7" LCD. No cutting, no gluing. I think there was some metal bracket back there I may have flipped over too.

Wow, just checked that out, that flip cover is awesome. Would you consider doing something like that for a Corvette and a 7" Xenarc touchscreen?

Well that flip cover is a stock Z part. I didn't make that.

Great write up! I do have a couple of questions.
I'm currently doing some fabrication to get a 7'' Lilliput (629GL) into the dash of my Scion xB.
I need to relocate the buttons/IR sensor. Can anyone tell me what the cable is connecting the button panel to the board? Where can I pick up a longer one or how would I go about lengthening this one?
Thanks in advance!

I haven't lengthened the ribbon cable to the button board. You may want to try Digi-Key for a longer ribbon cable of that type but I'm not sure that it will be available. You could always relocate the buttons individually with small cables from the board. For the IR sensor I use 3 conductor RC servo ribbon cable. I have a ton here PM or email if you need some.

Now that I think of it, all I really need is the IR sensor. As long as I can use the remote to change inputs and what not, I'll be happy.
So, would I need to desolder the IR sensor then resolder it to this RC servo ribbon cable you're talking about, then solder that to the board? Or is there some kind of IR repeater that I can use?
Thanks again for all your help and tolerating my newbie questions!

Yes just extend it to wherever you need it. Most RC hobby shops have the wire too. It works well.
