looks like it took a lot of work....quite risky to do your dash with it still in the car though!

glad to see it all done! thanks for posting the pics!

same as ST34LTH said....there are specific forums dedicated to both of the questions that you asked.....a GPS forum and a LCD forum....do a bit of searching....

welcome BTW!

SCREW YOU!!!!!! I have a 98 ES300 and I thought I would be the first to have a carputer in our model year on this board!!!

All I can say is GREAT JOB! I've only installed the head unit, amp, infinity basslink, distro block and speakers so far. I purchased one of those dash fit kits that finally came out for our cars and currently using that as a temporary solution for my aftermarket HU.

The metal bracket for the stock radio and HVAC controls looks like it could hold 2 DIN units, so I am planning on installing my Xenarc into an in-dash unit. When that is done, I have to fabricate some sort of dash piece to accomodate the aftermarket HU and the in-dash monitor. I have a mid-tower ATX case waiting to be installed in the trunk.

I really like what you did with the MDF pieces in the trunk. I've currently mounted my amp, inverter, power strip and distro block to a piece of carpeted plywood and when the carputer is in, I plan on mounting it against the rear seatback. The ATX case will go on one side of the trunk while the infinity basslink is on the other. To make it look real stealth, I may do what you did with your sub.

I've run my power/audio cables the exact same way you did (power on driver's side and audio on passenger's side). One question though, were you able to fit all the cables under the plastic cover on the passenger's side of the car? We're talking about 3 AV interconnects, 4 sets of speaker wires, 1 vga cable, 1 audio cable from carputer to HU and a USB cable....??? Did all those fit under the plastic covers???

One last thing, I was stupid and accidentally left my work light on the passenger's side plastic cover for about 5 minutes - it melted the plastic. It cost me $56 to get a new one from a stealership - so, just be cautious with any other work.

Anyhow, congrats on your ride....I'm going to be hitting you up with a few more questions later on.

-HD

Where do most people keep their carputers? In the dash or in the trunk? Or somewhere else? :-P

I'm going to go out on a imb and say the trunk as that's where it's easiest for people to just put a case and be done with it....
