Making Projector Headlights!
Well, my fiance wants her 96 Dodge Stratus to be fixed up. We decided on doin a nice body kit that matches the rest of the car, and painting it to match one of the old Dodge Stratus Dodge Dealers Race Car with the red and black paint and Stratus logo, cf hood and red dodge ram badge on the hood. We was lookin around on ebay a long time ago and found a dodge stratus with projector headlights. So far we have not been able to find out where to buy them, so I decided to make them. I just figured someone else would like this idea also. I'm going to get some of these really big universal Projector Fog Lights off of ebay for 65 bucks shipped...Black everything thats crome inside her stock headlights, and bore the H3 hole to a H4 hole and install her stock bulbs into the projector unit. Then I'm gonna shorten the stand for the fog lights and mount the lights to the top so that you dont see where they mount. The inside is very cramped on the headlights, so it should work to the advantage of making them look stock. By the end, they should come out looking like this...

the beam pattern won't be correct. you will get a straight white line horizontally. (If you're lucky)
I think you need to look more into the geometry inside the projectors first, you may find you are better modifying fog lights with the original bulbs for normal beam, and getting projector 'Driving' lamps for main beam.

Every Projector has the same geometry, its just the Lens...and the lights I found on ebay, are the same size as oem car's headlights...so I could replace the lens easily with the lens of a BMW if I can find one in a junk yard. Which I hear there are tons of cars with projector headlights in the junk yards.

Alot of "Projector" headlights really aren't reall projectors. They are H4 Diamond cut headlights, with a magnafine glass infront of the bulb. Quite cheap! Reall projectors...like the one I just showed you, is kinda shaped like a ice cream cone. The bulbs used in fog lights are H3 Bulbs, which are single beam. But how they are built, is so that it gives off two directional beams towards the crome part, and ends up comming out as a horizontal line. ITs all about how the bulb is made and how big. H3 bulbs are also very smallso they are closer to the inner part of the reflective area and makes the light beams closer together. an H4 inside a projector housing with a OEM BMW or Lexus lens would work like a charm if in a big enough projector housing, like the one I found on ebay for 65 shipped.

Hey bro,
Kinda looks skyline'ish, very nice, my friend replaced his sealed lights with small projector types like your using, His older Celica looked great and they were better at night, not as wide as a spread, but more focused forward, if you get what I'm trying to say. That body kit really transforms the car.

If you're going to bother with Projectors why not go the full hog and get HIDs?
Get some Audi or S2k projectors and HID setup and build them into your housing.

Thats what I'm talking about. Getting those ebay universal Projector driving lights, replacing the lens with something out of a BMW, Audi, S2K or anything else that has the same size projector lens, and installing HID's. I didn't mention the HID's because I didn't think it mattered to anyone here.

HeHe, Really...well if I meet the owner of that car, I'll let him know.
Actualy we found a body kit that matches the car much better.

Well see I have to find a cheap way to get kick *** projectors built for her car. Nobody makes them. Those projectors on that other car were made, and made poorly. The pass side projector sits further back and higher then the driver side.
A good cheap way to do HID's would be to located a wrecked Nissan, Infiniti, Audi, BMW, or any of those that came with HID's. There is also a place online, I have the link somewheres, that sells HID kits for a very good price. The H4 Dual Beam kit is like 400 bucks.

Fantomas, I'm talking about a D2R H4 Dual Beam HID Bulb, Ignitor, and alla that. I'm not going to get rid of the high beams! lol. One of the most expensive HID kits you can get are the dual beams.
