Hey Guys,
I've been reading up on this site for awile, but finally have summed up the courage to do some work.
Although this is not going to be for a carputer, there is a lot of similarity in the work that I am going to undertake from a fabrication viewpoint.
I have ordered a kenwood ddx-7015 and want that installed in-dash. the unit is double-din and the opening is about 3/4 inch smaller so it will have to be enlarged.now i have 2 options.
Option 1 -
I always wanted the climatecontrol rings move from where they are to up top, just below the vents.
or,
Option 2 -
I just open up the top to allow the double-din conversion:

so what do you guys think - doable - which one?
For option 1 i would open the dash, move the CC up under tha dash, cust the rings from the dash peice, move it up, expoy weld the plastic, then instal the double din riight underneath. once i get the shpe and fitament, just use glass bondo filler, then bondo finishing filler.
For option 2 i would just hack up the top part of the dash epoxy in a plastic trim that makes it a double din, and fill with bond again, right?
I need some massive help on this as I am up the creek on glues, fillers etc. also, whats the best tool to cut dash plastic without it shredding up?
thanks for your help from a total newbie!!
