Thanks!

I am planning on keeping my headunit in the dash for the OEM look and getting the motorized in dash touchscreen to take up the single DIN where the cubby is. I am going to run the sound through the headunit to save money at this point. Also the problems that R32Juhl had with feedback in the audio system is something I can't deal with on top of the install process, so i decided to keep my HU there.

I would be interested in this faceplate in black probably. I currently have a marble dash trim kit on it now so I am not really up to the idea of having a big black peice in the middle of my dash that doesnt match.

I currently have this setup, but I'm using the manual single DIN from digitalww...the more and more I look at it, the more and more I want it to look OEM. Not to mention within the first week the screen got stuck in while tucked away and I ended up having to force it out and broke some pieces so now it doesn't go back in the right way. I'm leaning towards making my own fiberglass mount, but it would be much easier if I could just bolt on a piece. I would need black matte finish so it matches the dash, but it seems to be taking quite a while for the engineering process. I'm getting anxious so I don't know if I can wait.

Just because you're keeping your head unit, that does not mean that you will not have noise issues generated by your PC then fed into your HU. Realize my on-board sound card is half of my noise issue. Once I get a few minutes to steal for my carputer, I'll fix the noise issues. They're fairly simple to address - PCI sound card and dedicated clean amp trigger signal.

NICE! That's good to know.

Matte Black is one option I'll offer. It will likely tip over the $100 mark because of the teflon treatment I'm using. Of course, you could always take one of the plain aluminum panels, sandblast it, and paint it with you own treatment.

Guys, I am VERY sorry this is taking so long. This is my first foray into something of this nature and I have yet to find a GOOD partner business partner in this machining endeavor. Speaking with the machine shop this morning, they said the hard-drive was ker-*****ed and needed the FAT file format restored. Their repairman claimed it would be back on Monday. I'm pushing like hell and hope to have good news by the middle of next week.

I think a black would look fine as my dash is black. But i have a dash kit trim which is marble and it would be hard to make something to match with it.

but then again it would save me alot of time and give an OEM look to buy the bezel. I am interested in it actually. I could try to use my remaining trim pieces to fill the bezel maybe.

If you have a picture that would help a bunch. The hard part of this design is the intricate work that holds the LCD and the DVD. The outer measurements can be adjusted fairly easily. So once the initial piece is produced to my satisfaction, I can ask them to make on slightly larger for your application. It might help others as well! If you have a pic that's gonna help.

you know... I just took another look at the faceplate you amde and I think it would fit very well in the dash. I see you have a brushed aluminum R32 dash and it fits in nicely and mixes well...

Now i just have to decide what to do about my VW Headunit and sound issues.... (another headache waiting to happen). I already am getting over the headache of basically already ****ing up my only option for a carputeri had, last night (look at post #22 if you don't want to read the whole thing.) damn me.

Cool! Talked to the machine shop yesterday. They "promised" to "have me taken care of this week". I can only hope...

Well I love the way your faceplate looks.......but I am getting a Xenarc. Keep in mind I don't have the xenarc yet and wont get it until I settle on how I'm mounting it......so I would lend you mine but I dont have it yet....sorry

Does anyone else have a Xenarc they would be willing to let him use......pretty please for the sake of us Xenarced MKIV'ers.

Once I have the initial batch delivered (they're "pre-sold" already), I can scrape together the money to buy a dead one unless someone comes through with the loaner.

It only needs to be disassembled and measured, then checked for fitment once the prototype is made...

Real quick question.

Can I keep the indash cup holders? or do those get removed for the faceplate to fit?

Just wondering and didnt feel like going through all the posts.
