SEM Texture Plus

I was wondering after applying the SEM texture mentioned on this site and then using the SEM color overlay spray
Is the color overlay replacable -meaning- after putting the sem texture down can you follow up with a metallic black paint and maintain the texture
OR
a high contrast paint (electric blue) and follow up with clear coat...

as a side note i was thinking of painting my dash then bringing it to my local body shop to have them lay 2 or 3 layers of clearcoat on it to resist cracking etc...

anyone here ever do (Paint) a whole dash how did it hold up with sun fade chipping cracking etc?

paint on a dash piece will never hold up as well as the OEM stuff...but how long are you wanting it to hold up? for 10 years? your OEM dash won't even last that long if it's left out in the sun...

how often do you park out in the sun? that's something to consider...

one thing about bondo work and the sun is that you run the chances of having your break lines show up....though it could be very small, it will pop up eventually....no matter how well you blend it....it's just a difference in material....

I don't see a problem in doing what you have mentioned with the clear coat, etc. just remember what you want to do with this....is it going to have to be flexable like the OEM piece is so that when you go to put it in it wont crack? just some things to consider...

I don't see any, but it all depends on each individual situation honnesty.....as long as the paint adheres and the surface is prepped you shouldn't have any problems that I could forsee...=]
