nope....I don't have the dual climate control.......I am glad that I don't, it makes my life much easier, swapping leather in is easier than figuring out the climate control stuff, so I won't need the OEM Head unit at all....but I am keeping the manual climate control buttons. I am hoping this will be done in a few weeks....seriously

I'll tell you, with the screen I had, I had about 1/16" to work with by the climate control knobs, and there is lots of sanding....I have more sanding to do when I get home, but overall, it looks good, and I've only spent about 10 hours on it so far.

new headunit comes in whenever FedEx gets here, then I have about another 3 hours of sanding, some more priming, then color matching. Then I get to disassemble another OEM HU/CC Bezel to put my spare one back together with the CC and screen with the OEM headunit behind it so the security system in the car doesn't freak out. I'm envisioning another 3 weeks before the system is completely done.

I've been house sitting recently, and it has really cut into my car project time

Hey 98EXL, I'm on Honduh a lot, so I'm surprised this thread didn't catch my eye earlier. The install is looking great so far, glad to see another enthusiast treating their Accord right, now if we can just convince you to put in a computer.

Keep up the good work, be sure and show the guys on Honduh when you're finished!

oh this thread was on there too, but you know Paul, he didn't back anything up

the 98EXL was my rough draft car, now the 04EX (the L is coming soon) is my final draft, it is all getting done right, the first time......but yeah, there will be no convincing of a carputer...that is what I plan on doing this winter if this I get around to it....should be pretty easy, I could probably do it in a weekend if I get ALL of the parts ahead of time

I am using a xenarc monitor and it doesnt seem to fit that nicely. What are you going to do about the two knobs since they are attached to the old lcd and stuff? I am trying to figure out how to do that. And did you just use body filler to mold the screen or fiberglass too? You seem to be active in the forums i have seen you sn before I liked the tutorial about the trunk deadening. (if that was you)

first off, yeah, I'm all over the internet like a kid with ADD....and yes, that trunk deadning was my simple DIY...I had a lot of people ask me about it...I thought it was pretty straight forward and simple, but I guess I was wrong.

2 knobs....you mean for the climate control? Those are staying there, since I need to adjust my climate still, but the center volume knob will still be there, virtually useless though.

I used a combination of things to get the screen in, bondo, bondo glass (which is bondo with fiberglass stuff), and JB Weld. This is basically how I did it.
I used blue painters tape to hold the screen bezel to my OEM bezel, to center it up nicely. After I was happy with its position, I completely taped the front of the bezel up so that I could bondo the bezel in place. That way I already had the main base bondo coat on the front. After the bondo cured, I JB Welded the back of the screen bezel to the OEM bezel, and added Bondo glass to strengthen it even more.

After everything dried, cured for a few days, I started sanding the front of the joined bezels to start hiding the lines of the two bezels, making it look like 1. Now the thing is with bondo, I found that sanding everything only shows so much of the inperfections. I have so much primer of various colors to see the dips, pin holes, and other imperfections. I probably have 'primed' the damn thing about 10 times, searching for imperfections only to sand more and more.

The really good primer I bought was pretty expensive from a crafts store, but it is for plastics, and also fills in very very small imperfections in the bondo. It also ironically enough gave the bezel the same texture as the OEM bezel, so I am pretty impressed with that, the $8 for that can of primer was worth it.

ummmm, oh some other randomness that I have come across in my travels. I just picked up a secondary OEM CC/HU and I think that I can sandwich the LCD between the OEM bezel, and the CC circuit board, and have the LCD circuit board behind the CC circuit board.

I am done house sitting this week, hopefully this weekend I can get some quality time in on this.....I have my new Pioneer DEH-8MP already in, so I am pretty much ready to finish this up and put it in...still have to find matching paint though........

I am using a xenarc and it takes more room. I am gonna need to figure something out. The stock knobs will definitely not fit with the monitor. Should have gone with a lilliput.
