custom metal work?

Does anyone know of a place that will (or can do themself) some custom metal work for me?

There are no local shops that will do a little order for me.

I need some plates made. They are about 7" x 2" and can be thin (they are mostly decorative. One needs a large square cut out, the others need some holes.

There is nothing complicated or fancy here. But I can't do it. Can anyone gelp me?

Hey,

There are two things I'd try if I were you:

1) I'm not sure why you're not able to do it. If the pieces are fairly simple, you can use a nibbler (available at RadioShack for $12.99) and it's REALLY easy. You just drill a 3/18" hole (IIRC that's the size) and start nibbling. Buy the metal sheet from Lowe's or Home Depot

2) Use eMachineShop (www.emachineshop.com)

...or 3 use www.frontpanelexpress.com (aluminium only) MUCH cheeper than E-machineshop if you want just plates with holes and squares!

I don't know about 2 or 3, but let me tell you, 1 is not easy, does not give clean cut and takes forever - unless I don't know how to use it. I think 2 or 3 is better option if you are looking for clean cut.

Used 3 quite some times (their European service) and the results are perfect. Dont know about e-machine shop but they have a $15/part minimum where frontpanelexpress has a $5/part minimum.

Dont bother with 1. Will not be very "decarative".
