Has anyone molded a screen in a 00-05 Nissan Sentra?
Hi all,
I'm gettin my CarPC project under way. I've got most of the components I need, and I'm about to start looking into molding the screen into my dash.
The is the exact interior I have:
As you can see, it's not the friendliest dash to mould in a screen. There are 2 DIN openings, but they are seperate and the lower one (which is empty in this pic, a CD changer can optionnally go there) is recessed quite a bit. In my case, I will be removing the entire head unit, so I have some extra room, but it seems that the moulding job will require modification of the center air vents.
I was wondering if anyone else has ever sone something like this in a Sentra.
At least the top part of the center consolt with the vents and the little storage is removable without any tools, so I can work on it out of the car, and make a completely new piece to go in its place.

I actually just posted pics of how I made mine out of the top storage compartment in my worklog thread here: http://www.mp3car.com/vbulletin/worklogs/48222-02-nissan-sentra-black-dragon-journal.html
I highly considered making a flip out design, but the way I would have wanted to do it was gonna cost a lot more money then I was willing to invent in an area that I'm not too familiar with (gears, serial servo controllers, etc). I really didn't want to have to "flip" it up everytime I got in the car if I did it manually.

I'd use the flip up storage compartment, so wish my dash was better to work with!

I like your design gizak. I'll probably do like you if my plan to redo the entire top part ends up being impractical.
thanks for the info!

Until I saw gizak's install, I was going to go w/ the attached design...It would basically block the front vents & the hazard button would have to be relocated, but the guy who did that install, did it nicely

Also, I'm not sure if any of the 00+ Sentra owners visit www.b15sentra.net, but it is a great resource for our cars...Just giving a heads up

Yup, that's pretty much what I had on mind, but with slots on the sides of the screen for vents and a center channel speaker on top.

This is what I have been working on. But after a month of riding around with it in I think I'm going to change it a little bit.
