trying to mold dash.... pls advise...

So, after a few attempts at an in-dash-fold out gps... Im thinking of molding it into the dash. I have a project dash... and I have pics below as to what I want to do.. basically put a garmin 2610 in the air vent after removing a bar of dash......
The dash is covered with a thin layer of durable, flexible grey plastic, with padding below it.... Im not sure how to remove it and keep the edeges clean

I want to cut out blue box w/ a hacksaw.
grind the fiberglass from behind the red circles.
Fold the flaps of gray dash plastic down...
but when I fold them down... they will... wrinkle!

What can I do about that wrinkling?
Will a heat gun shrink the gray dash plastic to fit?
Im sure plenty of people have worked with this dash plastic before me so... how did you do it?

What do you think about the general design? is there a better way to do it?
the Garmin GPS has dimensions of 5.6" W x 3.2" H x 2.0" D.

I don't think you can shrink it but you may be able to stretch it enough with heat to pull out the wrinkles - only one way to find out!
